A large fleur de lis will be painted at midfield, replacing the Saints helmet that served as the centerpiece for the past seven seasons. The end zones will have \"SAINTS\" painted in black and gold letters. The background in the end zones will remain green; officials want to use as little paint as possible because it tends to make the grass fibers harder and slicker.

The current paint job will allow for easier removal after each game so that logos for the other football events held in the Superdome can be placed on the field
