With all due respect SR, noone thought that Brooks was anything more than an afterthought after we picked him up. The fact is, we\'ll never know what another qb can do until he\'s under center. I can guarantee you there are qb\'s out there more consistant and better leaders. PERIOD!

That samething could be said for every player on this Saints team. So according to your logic we need to get rid of everyone?

Damn, I this thread is like deja vu. I feel I have read it before, although the mindless drivel was posted by a different name. Again, back to your wet dream of having Eli come play for us. It’s never going to happen. The Saints aren’t going to get one of the top spots in the draft. More than likely the Chargers will. As I told Swampy about a month ago, the Chargers weren’t all that happy with Brees. Oh, look what’s happened now. Do you think that they think Flutie (who is amazing) is their future. Nope, they will be picking up someone new this year. That is where Eli will be going.

I\'m Sorry, but stating that I believe that you are not a football genius (in a blatently bad, comedic attempt) is not an insult. It is my opinion of you and your football acumen based on your writing.

You resorted to name calling and cursing, not me.

I guess you\'ve never heard of Kurt Warner or Drew Henson. What makes you think the Chargers won\'t want to go that route. Besides, Eli isn\'t done yet. He could have bad outings his last three games. Fact is, Matt Mauck from LSU has equal if not better stats than Eli. Don\'t think teams won\'t see that, my friend. BTW, please check my original post in it\'s entirety. I said we probably wont\' get Eli.

Like I said, this has nothing to do with Brooks. It is all about your stating that we need to bring in all these rookie QBs as if by doing so that is going to take us to the superbowl next year. I couldn\'t disagree more!

ScottyRo is absolutely right. Furthermore, drafting a QB is a crap shoot. And, even if you do get a good one, it is no guarantee of going to the super bowl. Just look at Peyton Manning who is \"the greatest QB to never win a playoff game.\"

I’m not into talking the garbage about Brooks. But I do have to question if the Saints need to look at a back-up QB. Bourman’s contract is only 1 year, making him a FA. What do we do for next year? Should we draft or look to pick up a solid back up, or resign?

It is going to be one of my big regrets about this season if we can\'t get Bouman in to do some playing to see if he\'s worth keeping. I would think that managment would prefer to keep him if he was worth bringing in at all.

Otherwise, I don\'t know what the FA market is going to be next year for backup QBs.

If the Saints are so bad they have a shot at getting Eli, they should use it. This won\'t happen though. Using our first round draft choice for a backup QB ... I think we have other needs. Unless a Chris Simms type quarterback falls in our lap in round 3 or 4, the Saints shouldn\'t draft one at all.
Just sign the MVP of the Arena Football League or Doug Flutie as a backup.
