this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Drew CARRIED the Saints. The more you consider it, the more obvious it becomes. The more obvious it becomes, the more stunning it is that we have had the good fortune to have had Drew Brees at the Saints...

Hey look, this is something that the Patriots, Colts, and Chargers are doing and the GB will be doing. This is Brees' value to the team. You can pay him his salary and still contend. Dilfer was an exception, and was only able to do what he did because he had one of the top three defenses in NFL history on his side. |

It really is a no brainer. Drew Brees is the face of the franchise and led us to the Superbowl last year and brought us back into the playoffs without a running game. He is a record setter with value that is off the charts.
However, I believe that he knows that there is more to life than money. He is a team first guy and will be reasonable......but his agent probably doesn't look at it the same way. Drew is smart and knows he is in an ideal situation here in NO with a great head coach and a strong defense. |

He deserves just as much of a raise as Brady and Manning. Sure, he had a "down" year, but that's no reason not to pay him. I would hate to see him go somewhere else, he's a proven leader and the team would be STUPID not to keep him. |

I think you give Drew all the money we have , and let him divide it up as he sees fit,lol
Drew Brees is the Saints, and the Saints are Drew Brees. If Brees walks out the door, so does any hope of us winning another SB. Besides hes just the best example of a QB in the NFL and he represents our character perfectly. God made him for us Drew contract should be 150 Mil a year for 7 years, errr I think thats all we got. |
