Most starters don't play much in the preseason.......it's time for players like Arrington and Ivory to get a shot. Maybe the preseason ticket prices should be 50% off since we spend most of the time watching backups.

i think all the 18 game hoop-la has come from us the fans, we just don't like exibition football. u hear it year after year. its needed yes, but why should the season ticket holder have to pay for it? 45-50 thousand guaranteed payed seats for the owners. the way i'm steamin now they can play 20. dress out 70 make everyone ante up.

You cant tell me this wouldnt benefit the rich teams. The 49ers of the 80's used to push for bigger rosters, because they could afford to pay their 2nd tier players more. I dont know how it works now, but it's gotta lean toward the rich teams, if you expand the schedule. Its like Jessica Alba getting plastic surgery. What good can come of it? why f*** with something that works? on preseason: -- why cant you just sell your tickets? I do it all the time. Its not that tough. There are lots of people who cant get tickets who are happy to buy em, when they're available. -- what does it hurt? The coaches say they need it. I see it as football where you cant lose. Its foreplay to me. I love it. -- I enjoy seeing the Ivorys and the Pierre Thomases and the Bucky Richardsons rise up from obscurity into the lineup. There's plenty to soak up in preseason for those of long-attention-span. -- Again, why screw with the dynamics of the game? They use preseason to prepare, to test, and to evaluate. Practice is not the same as a game. If this is what works, leave it alone. If you dont like preseason, baseball season is still on in August. -- They used to have six preseason games. |

I have my reasons for not wanting an 18 game season and some reasons align with the players. I think this is the only thing I agree with the players on.

Right now, if a guy is out 6 weeks with a high ankle sprain, teams are tempted to IR him. If there was a 4 or 8 week IR he could come back after it heals. And if we had 18 games in 2010, Jenkins, Bush, PT, Ivory, and Graham might have been able to play in the playoffs. Its possible that we would have been healthier if we had an 18 game season last year, along with a 4-8 week IR. |
