Being able to have a dominate running game would certainly help the defense. The real question is do you want to take the ball out of Brees's hands 20 times a game to give it to him? But if you thought play action worked good with Reggie Bush... you ain't seen nothin...
I agree, effective play action is something that is being down played.
Brees can only get us so far trying to fit it in tight windowns every game. If we go with what we have now the Saints will find themselves in a very similar situation as last season if you look at the law of averages. I hope for the best, but right now, their best is having 3 RB's that will not make it through an entire season.

Defense, we need ugrades but looking at the mock draft, once you get to 24 the players that look like they could could make a immediate impact are gone. Sure, we could get a good OLB or DE but as far as them coming in and making a big contribution I just don't see it.

IF, AJ Green is there at 24 we should take him too... Not gonna happen either.

Looks like a longshot but I wouldn't be surprised if he's available.
In some mocks he's dropped below 24. Either way, there is a lot of value at RB this draft. Take Stevan Ridley, he's projected as a 4-6 rounder.
That right there tells me getting a rd 3 back is the rational decision. We have issues at RB but it's not that severe that we have to absolutely have Ingram or another top tier back.

There is no way that he will be available by the time we pick but this guy is a beast.

Ingram is a game changer, and he is going to be a star in the NFL. I say if he's there, take him. This guy has all the intangibles. Passing on him would be a mistake.

It's not that improbable. I agree he likely won't be there but like I said, several mock drafts have him dropping below 24. If he is there the Saints will get him. To think Ivory and PT will magically heal and make an entire season, and that Bush will run up the middle like never before. That is improbable.
