I think we\'ll have a very good year next year with some basic assumptions...
1. We don\'t have an inordinate (excessive) amount of injuries. 2. We address both CB and LB via free-agency/draft with an above average player. 3. We re-sign Darren Howard. Re-signing Boo wouldn\'t hurt either. I believe all 3 of those assumptions are necessary for a stellar year next year. We\'re still a very young team for the most part. I see improvement on the horizon, not regression. Next pre-season we\'ll be working on fine-tuning a system everyone is familiar with instead of teaching our system to a totally re-vamped defense. |

Interesting fact thread.
I\'ll say this. First, I\'ve already said I would like to see Haslett gone. For one, if we get another coach that is proven, I don\'t see how we can do worse and the rewards would probably outweigh the risks.
With that said, I agree with Danno. IF we can address some needs, I think Haslett CAN get the job done. But, I feel the safe money is on a getting a new coach. I think Haslett and more importantly McCarthy have not done a great job this year. Yeah, they\'ve done a few good things, but I\'m having a lot of trouble remembering what those are. |

Interesting fact thread.
That\'s interesting Tweek... coming into this year, I thought that for the Saints to have a chance:
1. The defense would need to improve to 15th in the league or better. 2. Brooks would have to become more efficient and make better decisions. 3. Deuce would have to stay healthy and be a force again. Mind you, I didn\'t think any of those things would happen, but if you ask Billy, every one of those things has come true. Honeslty, I wasn\'t all that concerned about injuries b/c if you asked the coaching staff, you would have heard all about how deep we were. So, according to Billy all of those things happened, but the Saints didn\'t get better. Hhhmmm... you\'re probably right though, they\'ll be great NEXT YEAR - after all that is the SAINTS motto isn\'t it? Just wait \'til next year. |

You frustrate me to no end. I\'m not trying to fool anyone here WhoDat. What\'s this \"according to Billy\" all these things have happened :
2. He\'s much more efficent in the PASSING game. Which I said I thought he woud be. It\'s not Haslett\'s fault Brooks fumbled the ball this year. 3. He did stay healthy. So, yeah, all those things did happen according to ME and happened period. [Edited on 18/12/2003 by BillyC] |

Interesting fact thread.
In another game, against the Panthers they allowed 23-points, the only reason they scored 23 is because the game went in overtime. So, rushing stats are fine and dandy, but I\'ll judge a defense by how many points they give up. [Edited on 18/12/2003 by BillyC] |

1. We played 2 games with over 1/2 our starters out on a totally re-built defense, and lost both big. 2. We suffered more injuries than any team in the league (as of week 14, it may have changed since). 3. Officials admitted they screwed us in the Carolina game. 4. While Brooks has improved passing and decision making, his fumbling cost us 2 or 3 games. 5. Our special teams play was absolutely horrible and cost us 2 games easy. No one saw any of the above happening before the season started. If you say you did, your lying. Well most of us probably knew we\'d get screwed out of a win or two by the officials somewhere. So I\'ll give you that one. But that’s a given entering any season with the B&G, so I shoulda just left that off. |

Danno -- All of that is the ABSOLUTE truth. But, you can\'t win. I don\'t think too many want to look at the TRUTH. They just want CHANGES. It\'s fine to want changes, but it doesn\'t hurt to tell the TRUTH about the team and the coaches.
They\'ll try to lead you to believe ANYTHING to justify making CHANGES!! |

I think a new coaching staff is gonna mean RE-BUILD and we\'re looking at another 7-9, at best. Unless we can land a Parcells type. FAT CHANCE! But thats my personal opinion. I\'m sure some will disagree. |
