Roman Harper, an unrestricted free agent, says he would prefer to re-sign with the Saints, but he's not interested in giving them a hometown discount.
"I can't do that," the five-year veteran starting strong safety said. "That would be unfair to myself. "If the numbers don't match up, there's no reason for me to just have to settle for something. Everything has to match up for me to come back." Article below. ProFootballWeekly.com - Saints SS Harper not interested in hometown discount Last edited by papz; 12-24-2011 at 07:46 PM.. |

As it should be. However, I bet we'll have the opportunity to match any offer he gets.
And its a hometeam discount, not a hometown discount. He's from Alabama. |

Ain't that the truth. His problem is that when someone criticizes his on-field performance, the poster is called a hater and the Reggie-exaggerations start flying left and right and it escalates into nonsense being posted repeatedly.

Kinda what we have been hearing all summer from most of these under-paid guys. It's always about the money first and loyalty second. It's their business and they have to get it while they can, just kinda sucks from a loyal fan point of view. Loyal to the colors vs. loyal to the highest bidder.

He already has his ring and this probably will be his one and only big contract. He should definitely capitalize on it and at the same time, we should be one of his high bidders. He should be back as a Saint.

He'll be back at the salary he deserves, which is probably in the range of top 5-10 safety. He'll get some jack, but it won't break the bank either. |

I would hate to see him go anywhere else. I got to watch him play in colege and I was excited when we drafted him. He is definately a key piece of the puzzle. Pay the man what he's worth. However, having said that we can still win another Superbowl without him.
