Does that mean that he's not interested in being around for a rebuild if that becomes necessary for some reason?

I pretty much figured as much. Or if Drew left sooner than later He would follow suit.

We definitely have the foundation to be a contenders for 5-6 more seasons. And I am confident Payton and Loomis will be pro-active to address succession plans along the way. Come on dynasty!

Thats why he needs a guy to groom that can take over right when Brees are gone.

I honestly do not think Payton would bail if Brees goes away. I think Payton is pretty much a master of developing QB's, and would find another gem very quick. Sure, if he has to draft a new starting QB it would probably be like a 5-11 type of year at first, but after that look out. I do not believe Payton would be scared of a rebuild at any time. Fortunately, he seems to be correct that the Saints should be able to roll for a good while.
