Bradley Handwerger / WWLTV.com Sports Reporter

METAIRIE, La. – Saints coach Sean Payton said Sean Canfield fill get the start at quarterback Thursday night in New Orleans’ final preseason game, playing much of the game with Chase Daniel as the backup.

Drew Brees, meanwhile, is the only player Payton identified as not playing against the Titans.

But because of injuries biting into depth at certain positions, Payton said everyone on the roster must be “ready-ready.”

“What happens in this type of situation, you can’t say put your baseball hat, you’re not playing, because there are enough guys nicked up that aren’t available to play so everyone has to be ready-ready, not only in the offense and defensive snaps, but in the special teams,” Payton said.

Canfield's starting? Should make for a sloppy game with no chance of Arrington, or any other receiver, to make a good last impression.

is this canfields last shot as other's. will he be in there with all the 1's? interesting. lets watch close and take notes. the thing that makes me wonder. with the kickoff being brought up, what does that do for roby? it seems it would limit his role on this team by being a gunner, and a dammed fine one at that. does that make arrington a viable no#5 wr and not competing with roby for the last wo position. just womdering

Oh so true. How do you show off with out the ball being thrown in your general direction?

I DON'T agree with this decision. Drew will be sluggish when he returns. NOT good.

He needs snaps. It's not rest for the Superbowl, For GOD's sake...

NOT good, I tell you...

How soon we forget!

Remember the last "meaningless" game the Saints played?

It was against the Bucs and it needlessly got some key players injuried and unavailable for the playoff game against Seattle.

When you consider that an injury to Brees will have an immediate and dire affect on the Saints season, not playing him is the correct decision!!
