this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; That one punt was stellar. Must have been 70 yards in there. I thought for a second he was Erxlerben....

Absolutely. He a friggin Punter. No punter is worth two draft picks in a 4 pick draft. Its the least important position on a football team.
There's a reason why only 1 or 2 are drafted every year, and we gave up two picks for him. I'm glad he's our punter, but we paid too much for him, even if he makes 9 consecutive pro-bowls. I'll type this real slow so there's no mistaking my opinion on it... TWO DRAFT PICKS IN A FOUR PICK DRAFT IS TOO MUCH TO GIVE FOR THE LEAST IMPORTANT POSITION ON A FOOTBALL TEAM. Do you need any further clarification of my opinion on the matter? |

Again
This guys is phenomenal. I was gushing during the game and still gushing now. I watch many sports that have a kicking element and his kicking would be ace in all of them I wrote this 01-25-2010, 02:29 PM and it still applies. |

I don't think there is any such thing as a "least important position" on a NFL team. Just one guy not doing his job efficiently can result in a big fat L. That includes the LS, the holder, and the kicker/punter.
Thomas Morstead has a VERY important job and he does it well, and does it consistently. We're very fortunate to have this guy on our roster. |

Well the draft is a crap shoot anyway. The 2 players we picked before Morestead didn't pan out and are no longer with the team (Arnoux and Vaughn). So anytime you have a draft pick that is on the team and making contributions I think however you got him was worth it.
