Confession time: Who here wanted Culpepper?
I have to humbly admit that I was one of those who wanted Culpepper over Brees. I thought Culpepper had a better chance of recovering from injury than Brees did and had seen him torch our defense many times. Thank God the FO doesnt listen to me. That could have been a disaster.

That's brave of you to admit. I was all for signing Brees. During Brooks' last couple of seasons I started every Madden franchise by trading for Brees or sometimes Phillip Rivers, just because he could be had for less. NEVER CULPEPPER!

There have been some crap players I have petitioned for over the years but Culpepper was not one of them.

I have to admit that I wanted Fourcade over Hebert and Walsh. When they traded for Walsh, I was pretty upset. When they started him after only being here a week or so, I called the Jim Mora show after a loss and told Mora he was an idiot...in so many words.

I can remember some heated debate about the Brees signing. Quite a few people were skeptical his shoulder would hold up. Not this guy! I also thought Matt Leinart was a safe pick that year. So, you win some, you lose some.

I definitely wanted Brees. As soon as I found out he was going to be a free agent, I crossed my fingers that the Saints would sign him.
I never really cared much for Culpepper. I thought Brees had the better skills. I had Brees on a couple fantasy teams, back when he was in San Diego. |

I wanted the Saints to get him over Brees, and I'm not embarrassed to admit it.
My opinion was skewed because I rarely watched any Chargers' games, but I watched all Vikings' games, so I had no idea how great Brees could be if the surgery went successfully. |

Wow, this is a pretty cool post. I can't really say because I didn't think either one was going to make it. I thought we were going for Matt Leinart in the draft, and he was going to take his lumps the first yr anyway.
Then I'd have to say I got caught up in all the Reggie hype on draft day. Thinking it really didn't matter who was going to take the snaps. Because there was all those analyst and writers (you know the ones that put out those gay as polls) who said Reggie was the next Gale Sayers. I bought into that, like buying a lemon from a used car salesman! |
