Drew Brees is on pace to throw nearly 700 times this year and to be sacked nearly 40 times which are the highest totals since he has been a Saint. The more Drew throws the less efficient he is. Drew Brees threw the ball in the Super Bowl year far less than most of his years as a Saint. He only threw the ball 514 times the Super Bowl year. Last year he threw it 658 times. He threw the ball 144 more times last year than the Super Bowl year and it netted the following:

1 less TD pass then the Super Bowl Year

232 more passing yards than the Super Bowl Year

11 more interceptions than the Super Bowl Year

I've been preaching we need to run the ball more..if i was the coach i would just work on the running game all week ..EVERY week....we have the backs and two guards who are supposed to be elite...we have to get them going..

Drew needs to stop passing to death..our O-line cant pass block like in the past..why not use that beef to ground it out?

What are y'alls thoughts?

I was just about to say...I'm sure Rivers took the lead after all the picks he threw last night.

I agree with the PP. We NEED to run the ball more. We have all these power backs, let's use them already!

Somebody may have to catch Payton in an alley and beat the Schlitz out of him before he sees the light.
I have to believe that IF (IF mind ya) Chase Daniels was at the helm, we would have a little different run mix.
I just have to believe that, but I really don't have to see if it would be true.

And he's still on pace to beat Marino's record. Where does he land on the rushes/sacks list. It's always situational, with time he's unstoppable. He has had to climb out of hole in almost every game, therefore force throws, therefore increased interceptions. It would be different if we had a balanced offense, just has not been the case. Not worried about that stat.

we have three potential pro bowl running backs, how about using them??

Pierre got the new contract, he needs to get more carries, the guy is great when he gets going

We have 2 glaring weaknesses:

1) Offensive line has some weakness, including depth at center as of a few weeks ago;

2) Our defense is weak on the run and does not put pressure on the QB.

If our mixed young/veteran line could put pressure on the QB, our DB's wouldn't look EXPOSED

If our o-line had depth and solid upgrades at tackle, Brees wouldn't be throwing INT, the hurries would grow less and sacks wouldn't be an issue.

Which brings me to the next question: Do we spend our last free agency dime on the biggest contract ever for Drew? Or do we weigh our options and beef up key positions and hope Drew takes the same pay on an extension?

Perplexing.....
