With all the heat, GW relies heavily on the secondary. If the secondary has a bad day...we are exposed. We aren't getting enough pressure up front. Today, he played man, when zone probably would have been a better choice. That said, obviously, our D kept us in this game. After, a zillion turnovers in the first quarter, if it hadn't been for our D, the ship would have been sunk mid-3rd quarter.
The O-line caved in the 4th quarter. I also didn't like the play calling in the 2nd overall. But, because the O-line was caving in the 4th, I'm not sure what would have worked better.
Special teams turned the ball over and wasn't able to gain substantial yardage most of the season. (Although, the P. Robinson blocked field goal against Atlanta was very special.)
If we are going to critique, there's lots of stuff to look at on all sides of the ball to me.
Think about it another way. After Sproles scored his TD we were ahead with 4 min left in the game. You can basically erase everything that happened before that in the game. We were up a score and just needed our defense to just keep doing what they had been doing all game long. What the heck changed on the 49ers last two drives? How do we let smith go 165 yards and two TDs in less than a few minutes???? We had him contained the whole game and then just let him gut is? Alex freaking smith - I mean really???
