Might be worse. sack totals rise and Bress maybe carted of the field because he was gunned for. oppps there is the bounty ideology thing again. remember the best way to get to Drew is up the middle not off the ends.
besides we should get a nice comp pick for the players we are about to say goodbye too. |

That depends on who the Saints can sign to replace them from the FA pool, whether or not Roger Rabbit decides to take away any potential comp picks.

Unbelievable that they could not get a deal done.

Remember when $450,000 was a lot of money?
It's raining cats, dogs, squirrels, & monkeys...what else is waiting in the wings this year? I believe the tag helps this years cap, but the long deal is going to leave us thin. Restructuring and cuts will have to be made and next year has no real advantage. Once success shows up, the players that bring that success will demand their rewards. No team has enough money to reward everybody. We are no different. Brees deserves his money; he's earned it. Everybody else look out for yourself. Things should level out once all the teams get up to the cap/minimum salary range. Teams like KC will be able to buy a whole new look. All the rest will have to pick through the scraps to see what their remaining dollars will buy. |

I've been telling you guys for weeks and I kept getting called chicken little, Drew is a Family man first, a union man second and a team member third. He is going to do what is best for his family first...period, what's best for the union second, and what's best for the team third. He's already a hall of famer. He has damn near every record that can be set by a quarterback. What's next? A big ass pay-day, that's what. Don't get me wrong, I love Drew Brees, and I hope he stays in New Orleans forever, but he didn't dream of playing in the NFL his whole life so he could play in the NFL. He dreamed of playing in the NFL his whole life so he could get rich, just like every other player in the NFL. It's time to pay up.

A team doesn't need to sign the highest payed FA in a given position, just the FA who provides the most value and fits the team's system. This is where the Patriots and BB have and will continue to be successful, and where Loomis has also shown his abilities. The fact that the new CBA brought down the draft pick salaries, especially for the 1st round picks, will help teams to concentrate more on building their success through the draft. |
