We must remember that the backup QB doesn't get many snaps every week to get him ready to start. If Daniel was the starter, then he'd get those snaps and I think that would make him better. We should also remember that Daniel was a sensational college QB and had a very high completion percentage so I think that would also translate. Add to that, the additional coaching from SP and I think Daniel may just surprise a lot of people.

I think Daniel would be decent, but the Saints would really need to go to a run first type of style. The thing that would scare me with Daniel is the interceptions, which usually happens with first year starters. I would say if Daniel was the starter in 2012, no to 10 wins, by 2013 he should be very good and can easily win 10.

Does anybody remember everything brees has said about Daniel? Look at this link Drew Brees says Chase Daniel pushes him at New Orleans Saints practice - Video | NOLA.com He said Chase pushes him to play harder in practice. In this article: Chase Daniel's Drew Brees-like showing proves most impressive for New Orleans Saints - New Orleans Saints Football NFL News - NOLA.com Daniel draws comparisons to Brees in his impressive preseason performance against Houston. Brees left the game after one quarter of work and tossed the keys to the Saints' high-powered offense to Daniel, the diminutive waterbug who torpedoed the Texans for the final three quarters. Daniel looked exactly the way Sean Payton wants his quarterbacks to look: calm, confident and in total control. He moved teammates around at the line of scrimmage like a conductor and audibled to checks before the snap. He flawlessly executed a four-minute drill before halftime, marching the Saints 83 yards in 11 plays for a touchdown on the final play of the half.

I think part of the problem here is that people believe so much that Brees is the only guy that can win here, but personally I don't think that. If all the cast members stay in place, then I think any QB with a reasonable NFL level skillset can succeed here.
The thing is this. How many people knew that Brees was going to do as good as he did here before he came? Be honest. How many people knew that Brady was going to turn out to be legendary status as he was lining-up to take the 1st snap after Bledsoe went down? How many people knew that it would be a QB by the name of Aaron Brooks that would deliver us our 1st playoff win? I am very content to just sit back and let things play out. No matter what happens, we will still have a team and someone will be behind center...and although I am not saying that I want to see Brees go...if he does in fact turn out to be the greedy jerk that he looks like now, then I don't have a problem with sitting back and seeing what the next guy can do, because, after all, for me it is just entertainment. If the Saints lose every game next year then I will still wake up every morning and go about my life in a normal fashion. Again...just entertainment. |
Whether you think you can or think you can't...you're right!

For me it's kinda going back to that old school thing -- with a flask of good whiskey smuggled into the 600 level on Sundays, ANY Saints QB can possibly win ten games, until he loses seven.

starting with Flynn and ending with Quinn, there are about 12-15 better quarterbacks available.

We've had very little opportunity to see him in action. All he does is hand off the ball. I don't think Payton wants his surprise to get out.
