this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Very curious what everyone thinks... obviously a team game, but do you think with Daniel at the helm, we can win 10 games?...

A first year starter is going to have his share of problems, but I think if we get a couple lucky breaks he could make it. He could definitely go .500 though.

He's better than a long list of former Saints starting QB's and they could usually get 6-7 so yeah, I think he could pull it off.

He would need a heavy dose of a running game for his first year, at the minute he's not the kind of guy that can sling it around 36 times i dont think.
But yeah.... if he was named the starting QB, i'd be supporting him and i think he could win 10 games for us |

I believe he can. Depending on what happens with free agency and Goodells punishment.
Hopefully the defense under Spags will be better at limiting points... The running game can be used as a crutch to help him through tough times... |

Where it gets interesting is that Chase is a Restricted Free Agent...if another team makes him an offer, the Saints can have the right to match it and keep him...Or if the Saints elect not to match the offer, the rule is that they may receive draft-choice compensation, depending on the level of the qualifying offer made to Chase by the other team. Not sure if Goodell would let us keep those draft picks, given the penalties and punishments we're in for, but if he does (if the punishment is just to TAKE AWAY some of the Saints pre-existing "normal" draft picks, not affecting any other picks they may acquire legally through trades or transactions such as this)....well you might see the Saints give up a few RFA's like Chase, just to get some picks in the 2013 draft, somewhere. Even by leaving us, Chase may help us out.

With the 20 million we save by not signing Brees, we could add some nice talent.
And I'm not convinced Chase Daniel is our starter if Brees doesn't sign. But if we did go with Chase, yes he could win 10 games with a few bounces going our way. |
