It isn\'t exactly a secret that Archie doesn\'t think Eli should be the one to hand Tomlinson the ball all day long. It\'s been at least three weeks since I first read about him lobbying the Giants to seek a trade. I\'m sure the Chargers were aware of where he didn\'t want his son to end up.
However, while I think talking to the Giants (I\'m talking about Archie here, not the Chargers) about trading up was borderline acceptable, now telling the Chargers about his concerns is not. Pretty classless - and pretty useless too. Is he trying to bully San Diego into a trade with New York? Bad idea. |

This thread hasn\'t gotten much negitive reaction around here. I wonder if it were anyone else but a Manning what the reaction would be. I wonder what the reaction of Saints fans would be if Eli or any other player told the Saints they refused to come here.
Elway did the samething when he refused to go to the Colts. Wonder what the Colts would have done with Elway. Well, we\'ll never know because Elway changed the course of history by refusing to play for the Colts. Doen\'t this set a dangerous precedent? If Eli can do it, why can\'t EVERYONE else? |

Besides that, that ain\'t the way it\'s suppose to work. What would you say if that were the Saints that Archie didn\'t want Eli playing for?? I know I\'d be pretty upset. Oh, maybe you didin\'t hear it come out of Eli\'s mouth, but do you really think Archie is gonna do something his son totally disagrees with? Come on. Eli = P U N K !! |

What has Archie done other than voice his opinion? Has he filed a law suit against the NFL or the Chargers? Why bring up sympathy? I don\'t feel sympathy for the guy either, but then, I don\'t remember him asking for any.

You and Archie are both entitled to your opinion. There\'s a big difference in YOUR opinion and when Archie tells the Chargers that he doesn\'t think Eli is a good fit in San Diego. When Daddy talks, people tend to start believing Eli doesn\'t want to be there and I\'m sure there are many disappointed Chargers fans now.
I only brought up sympathy because you were bringing up what a Father does for his son\'s best intrest. Well, that might be fine and dandy for the Mannings to make sure their son bucks the system and get\'s what he wants, but it doesn\'t sit well with me. [Edited on 22/4/2004 by SaintsReporter] |

i do like the idea subguy has... the team drafts the player...not the other way around. that\'s the truth, and either you take it or sit out a year... i think that the chargers should select him anyways.... what\'s he gonna do, file an appeal?

I understand where you are coming from. But if I was the GM of San Diego, I wouldn\'t care, I\'d be trading down to the #4 with the Giants, then again down to #7 with the Browns, and pick up as much as I possibly could, picks, Northcutt, Hilliard...whatever. Hell, those two players are upgrades compared to the crap they currently have at receiver, and I still haven\'t dropped out of the top 10.
Archie may not want Eli to play in San Diego, but if I was Eli, I would have told daddy to tap those brakes just a hair. San Diego is one of the most beautiful cities in this country and the women...don\'t even get me started. |

i would\'nt feel any different no matter who the saints drafted, if that player did not want to play here, good luck to em, see ya, so long, don\'t let the door hit you in the a$$.. what is the big deal? and now off topic, and i\'ll probably get throw into the fires of black and gold hell, but what the hell.......after all, it was a brave man who first ate an oyster...... how do shut a moderator up? answer.....just let him talk.....sooner or later, he\'ll put his foot in his mouth and do it for you......swamee |
