Mickey Loomis remains optimistic Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints will get a deal done that will keep the quarterback in town for the rest of his career.
"No one understands the value that Drew has brought to Saints better than I," Loomis told Mike Florio Thursday on PFTLive. "I know how valuable he is. I've been working hard on that. We've had some other issues and distraction that have interfered with our negotiations." "That's the No. 1 thing on my plate to handle. It will get handled. I'm confident that it will get resolved." Yeah....lets hurry up. Brees' lack of contract is almost as big a distraction as all the other bull**** ESPN is spewing.

If anybody actually thinks this deal won't get done needs to stop and think some more.

It will not get done until we know exactly of what, if any, the player suspensions consist. Until then Loomis doesn't know what he has to work with as far as cap is concerned. He wants to give Brees as good a deal as he can, but he needs all of the variables in place first.

Now that we are past the draft, work on his contract will resume in earnest. Drew will be signed soon, don't worry.
