I am as big a fan of Drew as anybody out there. He has been a source of inspiration for our team in leadership and performance and Certainly deserves to be paid what he is worth. In my eyes he is the best QB in the NFL at the moment. It is beyond my comprehension the monetary amounts. Why cant he just be happy to get paid around a million more than the top paid QB in the NFL. I certainly am no millionaire, but it seems to me like once you get past the first five million anything else is irrelevant. C'mon Condon, quit being a greedy leech and let Drew sign already. SapperSaint was right, Condon does need to be kicked in the nads on live TV

Now that the player suspensions are finished and bounty-gate is finally over, I'm expecting Drew to be signed shortly. That's just about all that's left on Loomis's punchlist...

Personally I don't think the dollars are the issue, but the structure. Drew/Condon are going to want this contract to be frontloaded, which will put a heavy burden on the Saints salary cap. The Saints will want to backload it, so that in the unfortunate event that Drew declines in years 4 or 5, they can move in a different direction without breaking the bank. Fans (as always) just want it done. But the primaries in the negotiation need to be able to be mostly happy with the final outcome because once the contract is signed, then both will be on the same team for quite a while. So Drew should not take a lowball or a hometown discount, nor should the Saints overpay. I expect that now that the player suspension damage is finally done, that it'll move much quicker. I'll bet that average will come in between $21 and $22 million a year, with a balance on the loading. Neither side will get exactly what it wants, but neither side will be screwed either. Which is exactly the way it should be. SFIAH |
Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO
Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good. |
