Took two weeks and I received it. While the luck was good I thought it might be a good opportunity to see if I could get a signed jersey. I corresponded with her and purchased a NFL jersey from NfL.com and had it sent to her San Diego address. She had an event to attend with Drew the following weekend. Sure enough about three weeks after the correspondence with her, my jersey showed up in Iraq signed by Drew.
There I was -- I was just sort of starting to turn.... just beginning to gear myself up towards mildly hating on Drew, with the recent direction of this thread...plus for weeks now I've been kinda cold, unemotional and ruthless about it all -- like, "yeah it's strictly a business," whenever I think about the Drew contract mess these days... and then I read this post of yours and I kinda remembered, oh wow, Drew can be freaking awesome sometimes. That's a really awesome story.

i've been through a few of those same experiences and i know a couple. here's 1 story. i had breakfast with a star player one morning in a hilton in dallas tex, that same day there was a press conference that i attended for some players to anwser ?'s about the nights game.well after the set, i went up to that same friend i just had breakfast with a few hours earlier to get a ball signed for my boss, well i got snubbed by my pal, he never looked at me just said he was out of time and sped off. i felt like the smallest guy in the room. terrible it was terrible. i let him know later too. lol he was a cousin of mine. explaination is they go into an eat or get eaten mode, thats all he said.

thats the fact jack!!!!!

Jesuit! Hahahaa. It's a high school rivalry, gals. Don't get your panties in a bunch. If every young man at Jesuit, Rummel and BM didn't say anything bad about Holy Cross over the years, I'd be surprised. And the person that said it would be lying.

Man. No matter what you say in a forum, someone is gonna get upset. Pony tail activists are upset that I mischaracterized the guy trying to get 43's autobiography on an 11 x 14. Trust me. If you saw this guy... It's whatever.

Just be excited OTA's are beginning.

Pony tail activist? No one said anything about mischaracterizing your comment about the guy with the pony tail. You followed that up by saying over the years guys with pony tails have made him HAVE to act like that to fans... You said it as if it were fact, yet you know no such thing. All because you saw one guy with a pony tail act like an ass. I don't appreciate punks who think they are better because they don't like long haired dude's. I don't give a damn what someone looks like, as long as they aren't running around naked. I go by what people act like. I'm not one of these "accept everyone for who they are" kind of people. Some people just don't deserve respect, but don't disrespect people you don't know anything about.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

oh good grief.... everybody get happy.... re-laxxxxx.

BurningMan, too serious, Holmes. I used to have a pony tail, and "pony -tail activist" is freakin hilarious. How "metal" can you be? You live in Crowley. Now see? Im messing with you. Do not take me seriously. Im old and drive a beat up truck.

Holy Cross, Jesuit.... so good to have rivalry... made this thread funny, too.

Jimmy, come on. He apologized @ the 1st hole, then took a pic w/ you at the 2nd. He had no way of knowing it would be blurry. You're too old to be that disappointed. You sound reasonable and understanding.

You know everybody assails prominent people with stupidity. Im semi-prominent in SE Texas. (in my biz, most the people dont think we're any big deal / but some people react like they just saw bigfoot.) Anyway, I cant even imagine being really something like Drew Brees. I go some places, and wish I could hide. You would be astounded at how pushy some people can be-- both pony tail activists and trailer park trash. The most obnoxious, drunkest inbred in any club ALWAYS goes straight to me. Occastionally, I do get "Hi, I see you're busy there, (usually Im mixing) but I'd love to hear Free Bird, if you can fit it in." [/REQUEST] "btw, I enjoy your news & commentary. I wonder what its like to talk to a million people? Have you ever messed up?"

But often its, "HEAAEEAY MAAAYAAN.... WHY DONT YOU PLAY SOMETHING GOOD WE CAN DANCE TOO? (50 girls are already dancing.) PLAY FREE BIRD... MAN, THATS WHAT EVERYBODY WANTS TO HEAR. So youre skii miiike! I never listen to your station... yall play too much ____ and you never play ____ ... Yall need to play more _____ (most obscure, untalentd artist possible) PLAY FREE BIRD DAMMIT... NOW... your station sux... TURN THIS CRAP OFF NOW AND PLAY FREE BIRD. YOU HAVE IT? IS IT NEXT? ARE YOU GONNA PLAY IT? HUH? HUH? HUH? HUH? HUH? LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING... THIS IS HOW IT IS... I KNOW SOMETHING AND I'LL TELL YOU WHAT BECAUSE I KNOW WHAT ITS ABOUT....... HEY B**** PLAY FREEBIRD!

Then a nice person comes along, and I semi snap at them, hopefully catch myself, and make it a point to be nice.

Jimmy, get back up on that horse, and meet your idols.

hey wouldnt it be cool if Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Brittany Spears, etc, would get out of a car, and nobody cared?

I still have a pony tail, Mike. And everywhere I go, I've got someone looking down on me even though I'm just a regular guy when you get to know me. I could understand if I had piercings on every square inch of my skin, for people to make a rush to judgement. That would stand out. But I don't even have one.

So reading that comment a couple days ago touched a nerve with me. Then he labels me a pony tail activist. That may be funny to you, but my sense of humor isn't wired for sarcasm. It was an insult, not a joke. I make fun of myself all the time. I know the difference. Some people prefer to accept the stereotype and let people talk. I am not one of those people.

could it be that you're in Crowley, that people look at you funny? I mean, people looked at me pretty weird in Dayton, TX, when I had all the hair, so I know how you feel.

Of course, Im old, and also super busy, so a lot of things that used to bother me, dont anymore. I was also the only Hispanic in my school, so naturally I ended up with "Pedro" as a nickname. It annoyed me at first, as Im sure "Jumbo, Smurf, Opie, and Juggs" & a million other names annoy people. Meh... I picked my fights, and didnt worry about Pedro. Now, I leave messages for my old classmates that go, "hey, this is Pedro, how the hell are you?"

Oh, and when I flew in the helicopter, there were 4 or so other choppers from other tv stations, and everyone talked to everyone on the radio.... One guy always asked my pilot if he was carrying "that long haired freak." (me) Same guy ended up helping me get a job later on. I let people assume I was some sort of flag-burning, dope smoking, tree hugging whatever-- just for fun. I had fun with it. Everyone of my roasters would give me the shirt off their back.

Anyway, peace to you, and some good vibes too. I enjoy your posting here. You gotta admit, this is actually a pretty tame & civil site, and Im glad you're here. Definitely stick around and talk about something we all agree on--- our love for the Saints (and Louisiana and the Gulf Coast).

No kidding guys, saints report has a guy praising Drew for the same golf tourney yesterday. About how he and his family went to the military tent and got pics and autographs with Drew. I am in the military. Stationed here in San Diego. I look like I'm in the military. My buddy said I was in the military, trying to sway Drew to giving me a couple seconds of his time.
I guess I should have gone on Sunday to the tent where everyone puts on a smiling face.
