I say no. The line in question from the article: The applicable language in the collective bargaining agreement says "any club that designates a player for the third time ..."
Any club (singular) that designates a player for a third time. I read that as if a club, say the Saints, designates Brees for a third time, then he gets that 144% tag money. If it said: "Any player that has been designated for a third time..." Then I would agree, the Saints are liable to pay him his tag plus 20%. But I'm no lawyer. ![]() |
