My point is that despite all the things you mention we were a couple of completions (read, not dropped) away from winning both of these games. If (and that's a huge if) there's one positive to take away from both games it's that as bad as we've played we were in both games till the very end.

It's hard not to be negative but I don't want to bury my head in the sand either. I just think we can still turn it around.

You could say the same thing about interceptions, missed tackles, inability to cover....etc...

I'm being realistic and clear headed. Our defense is very VERY bad.

Yeah, very! A perfect example was that 60 + yarder that Smith put on us. The CB blew his assignment, obviously, but that's the kind of thing that can be corrected.

We have the youngsters in there for Db's they are getting killed

You get your linebackers coach/assistant coach back in week 7 who has 30+ years experience in defensive coaching, and he goes ballistic yelling and screaming in the first meeting and tears everyone on the team a new one, puts the fear of God in them, and busts out the X's and O's and makes Spags explain what the hell he has been doing the past six weeks. No seriously. We are two coaches short of every other team in the league right now. Think about that. The defense IS going to get better when Vitt comes back, and the offense will get better when Kromer can go back to focusing on coaching the O-line, like he's supposed to.
