The ONE question that isn't being asked is "Who put an escape clause in the extension?" I don't think the Saints front office. Remember when he was hired he wanted to "commute" between New Orleans and Dallas? His family moves back "home" and now his contract is null and void. There is something wrong with this picture. If he signs an extension with the Saints I'll happily eat that crow but......

The extension was approved by ownership and signed by Payton with a clause that said If Loomis is suspended/terminated he would be able to get out of his contract. Now mind you this was BEFORE the whole Bounty BS came to light. I really thing Goodell rejected it because he knew He was going to suspend both Loomis & SP. ![]()
But the clause was put in by SP and Benson signed off on it so its not like he didn't know or feel comfortable that he was going to retain both Loomis and SP. |
