Peterson , Fitzgerald question ...

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Barry Sanders was the best I've ever seen... Emmett was a good back at an opportune time... The only back that ran as hard as Sanders was Walter Payton... After this season, Adrian Peterson is now in that group......

Just getting through watching the Barry Sanders A Football Life presentation , I pondered a question. Would winning a superbowl or two have changed Barry's Mind ? Then I thought ahead towards our current Stand outs and this question rings truer than ever ...

With Super Athletes like Adrian Peterson , Larry Fitzgerald , Heck even good old Steve Smith ( Carolina ) is there an ultimate goal of hoisting the Lombardi up a few times , or have they undoubtedly admitted to themselves playing on such bad teams they may never and settle into the fading sun just being happy they accomplished so much already.

I mean I cannot be the only one to wonder what Drew Brees could do with Larry Fitzgerald or Steve Smith catching his 10/10 sports science accuracy results , or how a Peterson , Ingram tandem might pan out. Of Coarse I'm a Saints fan so I gear those opportunities towards our benefits , but honestly ...

I know this much ,

Mike Wallace is a Native and has a Saints Tattoo on him.

Larry Fitzgerald's father called out the Cardinals for wasting his sons talents after the Shlacking the Seahawks gave them.

Steve Smith is a Top 10 all time receiver but hasn't hoisted a Lombardi up and Drew Can Make that a Reality.

Reggie Bush has tasted success but ironically not the playoffs since leaving New Orleans and I am obsessed with Having 2 Heisman winners in our backfield.

Lastly I know Adrian Peterson wishes his carries could amount for something more than a wildcard hope.

Just saying , Curtis Lofton realized the opportunity ...
He got that tattoo right before the combine he wanted us to draft him and I think hes from NOLA

Three Things When You Watch This Video...

First, keep the context in mind that these highlights are against HOF members, or likely ones, on dominant teams, including that great Bills squad that made four Superbowls...

Second, many of his first moves are made with defenders already in the backfield...

Third, want to talk class, watch when he scores how he hands the ball to the referee as he goes about his business...

Re: Peterson , Fitzgerald question ...

Perhaps one of his best moves and it's against ROD WOODSON!!!

This is what is known as an ankle breaker, and you'll see why...

I was truly depressed watching this guy and knowing he was not a Saint...

Re: Peterson , Fitzgerald question ...

Players generally sign for the money these days. Fitz didnt have to stay with the cards. I still suspect Barry Sanders retired more out of concerns for his personal long term health than money or being on a losing team, after watching too many players such as Earl Campbell get permanently gimped.

I agree that Emmitt has never ever been one of the greats in my eyes, due to the talent around him in the pre-salary cap days. Great player, yet not one of the true GOATS. Same goes for Montana and Aikman. Yep, I said it

I will defend this opinon forever, I'm 1,000,000% certain of it.
Can't agree more ... a point I too bring up in the Emmit/Barry debate. It also brings to light a sore spot I have with the Lions ownership in that teams with great players, ie Dallas/Smith, Chicago/Walter Payton, New Orleans/Brees, took the opportunity of having such a player to build a team around them in order to win championships. The Lions did not.

I think the deciding factor in the debate is that Barry did more with less. Had Sanders played during that era for a team like Dallas, Denver, SFran, NYG, Washington, Green Bay, New England, Pittsburgh or even Buffalo/San Diego, teams that made SuperBowl runs, he undoubtedly would have stayed in the league past 10 seasons, broken Walter Payton's rushing record and amassed for more yardage than Emmitt Smith.

... the debate will rage on for eternity, .

We understand ownership not taking advantage of a great player - for Saints Fans it was Archie Manning...
