this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; If the Saints do not make the playoffs, are there any circumstances where you would be willing to bring Haslett back for another year? Or would you want him fired regardless. I mean regardless of injuries bad officiating, etc..... ??? ...

Poll on Haslett?
Nope, under no circumstance. Make sure and purge the entire staff too.

As a visual incentive for future coaches and staff as he is hanging from the Super Dome rafters .... Even the most incompetent person can be good for something , if only as an example of what not to be for others ...... |

Poll on Haslett?
oh man thats so tough. only because i like the moves hes made wit this team as far as talent. but the one thing that lacks and god this has to come from the coaching staff is discipline and consistency. i mean how is it that we come out in games and its like every drive ur worried about a dumb penalty or turning the ball over. why cant we ever just come out and look effiecent. the eagles have less talent then us but look better prepared. at some point isnt that just coaching?
i\'d probally say it was time it would be time to let him go. unless we finished 10-6 n for some reason didnt make the playoffs. i may be more forgiving then |
Your team stinks

I\'d be in favor of a total purge. The trick is that Benson tends to resist totally cleaning house. Venturi is a good example of this.
If we could manage to jettison everyone, I\'d like to see Benson put together a blockbuster deal to get Pioli as GM from New England and then hire either Weiss or Crennel. Either guy is a \"can\'t miss\" prospect for head coach. Then if we could trade Brooks before he gets too expensive, we should be able to get some picks that the new head coach to work with. |

Jim Halsett is the UNLUCKIEST coach alive (right Saintfan?). \"No dough, no show.\"
Funny how all you sunshiners moan about how your predictions were off last year b/c of injuries, poor officiating, etc., but that doesn\'t stop you from giving Haslett the win or go home ultimatum.... :P Seems like when it comes to that kind of stuff you\'re either right or you\'re wrong. Where does that elave you guys?! LMAO. (come one, I gotta do it. I only have three weeks until the season starts and then last year\'s predictions are worthless...) |

Win or Go Home?
I, for one, have done no such thing. While I\'d like to see Venturi moved up to the FO and a new \"D\" coordinator brought in, I don\'t hold last year against Haz. He may or may not be the next \"great\" coach. As I\'ve stated (and proved), his record at this point in his career is no worse than Bill Parcells\' or Bill Belichik\'s at this point in their careers. Don\'t think so? Look it up. Whether you \"no excuse\" people think so or not, injuries DO matter. See last year\'s JETS or FALCONS if you disagree. Some people want to blame Haz for Roaf\'s personal issues. Some wanna blame him for Turley\'s attitude. Hey, whatever helps you sleep at night, but in my humble opinion you people need to get real. The Saints are a young team (even younger last year) and young teams have to learn how to win. The players seem to like Haz...except for those that left for their own, personal reasons (See Turley and Roaf). Anybody hear T Smith spewin\' a buncha Mickey Mouse nonsense? Nope. He\'s got nothing but nice things to say. You can see a particular thing and take off and run with it, but you\'re only showing you willingness to be \"typical\"...in my humble opinion. The buck may stop with Jim, but that doesn\'t make him every player\'s father. I hope he makes the playoffs this year. I think they SHOULD make the playoffs this year. There are reasons they might NOT make the playoffs that could be out of Jim\'s control. I\'d rather wait \'til the end of the season before I decide Jim\'s fate. It takes talent to win in the NFL...and it takes a bit of luck too. If you disagree, then really listen to what ex players (and current ones) are saying about winning in the NFL. You wanna think I\'m crazy that\'s fine, but I know what I see every Sunday and I know what I hear people say...the one\'s who have been there. Some of you just tune it out, and I\'m pretty sure I know why. It\'s called an A-G-E-N-D-A. |

A-G-E-N-D-A? No.
Wanting a Super Bowl victory? Yes. And after 25 years of watching this team, I think having a short patience is not asking too terribly much. |
