Re: Spags Released
Romeo Crennel seems like a really good guy that the players like to play for. I have no idea about how good he is as a coach thou.
I think more stuff about this firing will surface in the coming days. If Spags really was disliked by the players that kinda stuff has a tendency to leak after a guy is gone. Could we see somebody come from the college ranks to fill the DC position, or a position coach from a team allready running the 3-4? |

Re: Spags Released
Maybe I can finally sleep. This long waking nightmare is over.
Three schemes in two years. Maybe we should be circumspect about prospects. If our offense continues to turn the ball over and have 30% of possessions end in a1:20 3-out, the defense could lay down ied's in the red zone and not improve. If one looks at the schedule for 2013, there are 8 games with highly mobile quarterbacks. 4-3 schemes got toasted by them, though Spags defense skewed the data somewhat. This was a fairly obvious move. The surprising aspect for me is that it took this long after Payton was reinstated to make the move. Once you've had your celebratory beverage and popped John Goodman in the nuts, what else is left but doing the right thing. Who is the most successful 3-4 coach available? I mean, to be clear, when he was a DC? What was the personnel profile? How much turnover will be necessary and do we have the cap room to get in one year where we all think we should be, which is making Peytie-Pie grumbleinto the losers' locker room in February 2014? |
