Re: Spags Released

well boys and girls we talked about this any many said it would'nt happen. i personally said i'd go with paytons decision. which i knew it would keep me a winner. just playing. its great to see that payton was as pissed as us with that excuse for a defense.

Totally different skillset. Man CB's play the WR from snap till whistle. They rarely look into the backfield and shadow their man, reading his routes, positioning himself between the QB, etc

A zone CB plays a lot more like a safety in that they're typically looking into the backfield and playing a specific zone. They're much more concerned about who's coming into and out of their area of the field than one specific man they're covering.

Obviously there's some overlap but basically its different enough to matter.

Re: Spags Released

wow I step out to eat dinner with the famil and SP drops dead weight.
I'm surprised but I guess Sean's thinking is he had an entire season.
Guess he was watching those games and realized this wasn't working.

I wonder now all that crap in the locker room about how noone liked him... is there any truth to that?

Shocked. I really thought he was the man for the job. His Defense did not play well at all last year. I guess it was time for him to go. Shocked !

I hold Shanle in high reguard for his football acumen, he knows where the play is going, No longer has the speed to get to the play, or strength to stop it. There's no way I his acumen has helped the Saints since Fujita was his teammate.

The legend of Marshawn Lynch ( yes I renamed it ) was started on a play where Scott Shanle had the chance to stuff the play before it even started. He died to me as a Saint that day, we have been hanging on to what's left.

PFT isn't basing this off of anything other than the Sean Payton-Bill Parcells connection, but they both do have experience running the 3-4 defense that the Saints are transitioning to. New Orleans is a little late in the game, so they'll likely have to promote from within or go out and grab a retread. Since nobody on the current staff knows the 3-4, going outside the organization is the only option.

I bet this is why Goodell reinstated Payton earlier than expected. Sean probably shared that he was gonna let Spags go and wanted to give him time to find another job.

Re: Spags Released

Romeo would be my top choice. He's one of those guys who is a great DC and struggles as a HC. Wade Phillips syndrome. And more so Romeo is a great person players love.
