The whole "player not fitting the scheme" is BS. These are the best athletes I the world and you mean to tell me that because they have a different assignemt in one scheme vs another their body cannot physically do it??? BULL. That's an excuse for not either being able to coach players up or they blow. Defensive backs may be better in man coverage vs zone but the front 7 still have basically the same duties. Either play run coverage or play pass rush.

Re: I thought more about the Ryan hire
They never gelled, bad chemisty. They all had the deer in the headlights look. There were no leaders at all on the D, no one to put a lost sheep in his place when he got lost, what our D lacks is someone who has balls. Look at a top D and there is someone putting people in their place when they screw up. 2012 was a big wake up call for Payton and I hope he was as miserable watching the D decline each and every game because not one of them had the balls to stand up and be "The man". Hopefully this season will be different and we get a couple guys with stones .

A super fast light safety with great air is excellent pass defense however he is going to struggle with the blitz and getting to the QB... Too light in the seat. |

Re: I thought more about the Ryan hire
I have thought more of RR as a hire, and I am at least hopeful now that he might be pretty good at his craft. He hasn't had a ton of success to point to as a D-Coord. but looking at those teams they had horrible offenses. Raiders and Clev. to be specific. Last year in Dallas I remember Homo throwing a lot of interceptions in some games, so that doesn't help the defense at all. I think he might be able to get us to a 12-15 ranking, and if so.... Championship
