I thought more about the Ryan hire

I think I know why Sean got him now. Its just like when he got Williams and Spags whose teams killed the saints offense the prior meetings they played. And I didnt thinnk about it until a saints poster brought it up last night he was DC of Cleveland when that two game run he had game plans for us and the pats. And four key games that we have on our schedule next year, including a division rival we play every year, had his handprints on them. Falcons six point loss, pats fg loss, jets late loss, and bears blowout loss. What do these games have in common? They were all lost by Romo. Payton knows this he also knows JJ didnt get rid of Garrett he got rid of Ryan instead and Dallas on our schedule next year gives Ryan information for us to use against Romo/Garrett offense. And three of those games were games I believed could have gone either way(the one in Atl) and with Ryan that helps our chances if Ryan can have similar successes against those same teams.

Re: I thought more about the Ryan hire

Doubt it has anything to do with beating Dallas and more to do with the fact that he is aggressive and runs the system Payton wants to run. The guy sat home the whole year and watched tape and games. Believe me, he knows who the best candidate was without having to sit them down and bs with them.

Yeah Ryan has the attitude and swagger that G.W. had, and mixes between 3-4/4-3 personnel...

Almost exactly like G.W. without the "pay-for-performance" system...

Payton wanting aggressiveness and attitude does not explain the Spags hire for me.

Lord knows the Cleveland game is a bad memory, no doubt.
Payton has a plan, and has had a year to put it together.

You learn from your mistakes; an aggressive defense got us a ring in '09 then struggled the following two years...

So he decides to try something different and when that didn't work, you go back to what got you there the first time...

In that case Spags was not what I would consider an "honest effort" considering all that surrounded the 2012 season.

What exactly does that mean? Spags was hired before all the bounty crap came out and the Failcons had already hired Nolan so at the time Spags hiring was acceptable. He just didn't work out with our players.
