I hear you I just dont understand why if they like their tackle would they draft another so high. I never understood taking a O-lineman with that high of a pick. I know the line is important but the cheifs need a lot more help than a tackle.

Albert has been unhappy there and wasn't even seeking a contract with the Chiefs according to some reports before the tag deadline, so it would be only logical that the Chiefs are looking for a long term replacement for him instead of spending absurd amounts of cap to tag Albert to stay with the team once again next year. If an OT is good enough to be picked high in the 1st round, a team even considering that position to be one of need should jump on that OT without a seconds notice. Minnesota did just that with Matt Kalil last year, and now they have an elite LT under contract for little under $5/yr average. Seeing as Bushrod just got a contract with $7.2M/yr average and Kalil being a far superior talent to him - it's not difficult to see where the benefit lies in drafting a player high in that position. |
