granted harper cap will cost us
2013 7,100,000
2014 7,900,000

but the dead money we carry over in
2013 is 6,100,000
2014 should be about the same 6,100,000 or a bit more

opening up 1,000,000 for 2013

then carry a cap hit of another 6,100,000 in 2114?

it does not make sense cap wise

trade is all you got and even then that contract needs to be redone. Until we see what this first round pick gives us on the field i do not see him going any where

Dead money accelerates to the present year... So what you see in 2013 is the dead money accumulation of 2013 and 2014. It is prorated for distribution but in the case of cutting a player and it coming forward, there is a complex calculation.

Scroll to the bottom to get an idea. Actually the scenario that is used is not too far from Harpers Contract.

Harpers dead money next season will be in the 2M range.

Rework Contract and Trade is the Best Escape out of this very bad contract...

If that's not there, cut him and take the hit, end the pain...
