4 year vets are released and become URFA, others are waived, which means other teams can claim them AND their contract thru the waiver process.

Vet is defined as being on a roster for a minimum of 3 games for 4 seasons... So it's not as clear as it seems

If you cant make the Jets roster as a QB you have no place on a NFL roster as a full time QB.
Give it up and become a TE/FB
