@MikeTriplett: #Saints don't have OLB on the roster who played for them in preseason (only kept Galette, Wilson, Haralson). Maybe more 4-3 to come?

why would 3 OLB be any better in a 4-3? Especially when they are more 3-4 oriented?

I think they may be looking to pick another one up...

His point not being numbers but that all of out OLB were out or on another team for preseason.

Really surprised at cutting both Roby AND Parker. Also wouldn't be shocked to see one of them back soon.

I think this is the first time since Payton took over they haven't carried 6 wide receivers on the opening day roster.

makes no sense; Haralson has only ever played in a 3-4... and they've been learning Ryans scheme the whole offseason.

This one is a head-scratcher for me too. They must have a ton of faith in Wilson/Galette being healthy, either that or they are planning to play so much 4-3 that the need for pass rush OLBs is not as great.

Fuzzy logic 101... The Saints team you see today will not be the same one that goes into Atlanta. The cuts today were about people who would least likely be picked by other teams looking for help. We can best move people to the PS when other teams have already made their moves. This is what Loomis and Payton have done every year. ;)

Keeping Cadet and waiving Parker makes no sense. Cadet looked very unsure and fumbled a lot and Parker couldn't have played any better.

foreverfan is very correct in that the 53-man roster is almost always a little bit different when you get to game 1. And even a little more different after game 1. That is why I wouldn't be surprised to see somebody like Roby, Parker or Richardson back.

It has been proven in the past that the lack of RB depth is more of an issue than lack of WR depth for the Saints. Parker would have never seen the field with the five WR's we kept in front of him.

He would have seen the field as a return man and special teams player. I don't trust Cadet at all with that responsibility. He's going to fumble.

A 3-4 is only a 3-4 20% of the time... 3-4/4-3
means just a little more than nothing.

So since Rufus Johnson was 'waived' and not released, does that mean that if he clears waivers and isn't picked up by another team, he can be assigned to the Saints' practice squad? Can this happen?

Well, Herring and Reddick are there pretty much just for special teams. But I really do think we'll see quite a few 3 LB sets with some combination of Vilma/Lofton/Hawthorne out there and no OLB pass rushers.

I'm thinking they really wanted to protect Reddick from other teams. He may be cut later when all the other teams fill out their roster, then placed on the PS.

I still think we're targeting another OLB somehow.

Carr, Richardson, and Leonhard may all be back after week 1.
