Remember Tracy Porter? He lost one step and we cut him like a bad habit. Now there was a HERO. Number 5 is no hero.

Number 5 spends about a full minute of playing time on the field each week, if he is LUCKY. One minute.

The O-line, as deficient as they are, battle it out in the trenches for a full sixty minutes. This man waltzes on, in a Dome, with a home team crowd and schizophrenia takes over.

DUMP HIM. Let's see what Morestead has in that TRULY TALENTED leg of his.

Morestead is a punter only. He didn't have great stats as a FG kicker in college.

Re: Garrett Hartley

The first miss was aweful, his typical pull left. The second kick looked good and straight but was just not lined up well. Don't get me wrong, Hartley gives me "Reggie on a punt return" heartburn, but up to this game he was doing OK.

No, he needs a shrink. He needs someone to help him prepare to get out of his head and just do what he does -- which is kick a football long distances sometimes accurately. But, the question isn't whether physically he can do it. He has the physical ability.

Someone here said he is a head case. Agreed. He needs someone to help him with the mental side of the job.

For what we are paying him, he can afford to hire someone to teach him meditation, visualization, grounding and focus exercises or something.

Yes, but he had 34 rushing yards and 4 tackles :)

Wait, he misses a couple of kicks in a blowout and people call for his job? No posts about the Brown getting blown by every game and getting Drew crushed. The guy is human. You people here have got spoiled with out past kickers.

We just need to grab the kid from Tulane next year. Santos is money from 53 yards in.

I think, THINK, we punted on 4 occasions as follows:
4-3-NO 47,
4-16-NO 14,
4-13-BUF 43,
4-9-NO 31

Mark Ingram was the Heisman Trophy winner. Look how far we've come.

I'm more interested in what a kicker can do NOW.

I'll kick for them. Same results but at least it will be half off on the salary cap.

Only problem is, the score was 0-0 at the first miss in the first quarter, and 7-0 Saints at the second miss in the second quarter. So at the times he missed both kicks, it was far from a blowout, and the Bills weren't bending over like many thought they would. Don't get me wrong, I supported this guy looooong after most on here had thrown him to the dogs. But now, even I get a tight feeling in my stomach every time Hartley walks on the field. I would love to see this guy turn into Morten Anderson, but I just don't think it's gonna happen.

When it gets unnerving for me to watch him kick i think its time to look for another kicker, Hartley is going to have me on prescription medication soon... We are doing too good this season for us to rely on his some-timer kicking.

Correction we have enough problems with our O-line, running game, and red zone performance for us to have to rely on his some-timer kicking

Yeah, Morten spoiled us just like Jackson, Mills, Johnson & Swilling spoiled us at Linebacker...

It's the fact that he's missing in the Dome, well within an average NFL kickers range...

Now that Will Smith and Roman Harper are not there, Charles Brown has been my new project, and the posts are there to prove it...

What jeanpierre said, except for the spoiled part. Shankley is not even mid pack in accuracy in relation to the rest of the league.

56 yards, wind, rain, bad snap, bad hold, death in the family, game on the line, broken skateboard.. all completely understandable.

The most perfect circumstances a professional kicker could ever ask for, at normal yardage... Its inexcusable.

We are not expecting perfection, we are expecting 3 points when the conditions are perfect.

Perhaps we should have spent 2 draft picks on a kicker instead of a punter.;)

Funny, I was looking for this because we know you love the punter, haha.
I would love to have a field goal kicker as good as Morestead is a punter however.

Sorry, I just couldn't resist.

I'd much rather have a mediocre punter and a great kicker than a great punter and mediocre kicker.

I can definitely see us spending a pick on a kicker next year. Or maybe sign a stud free-agent kicker?

Re: Garrett Hartley

The FG Hartley missed was not the difference in the game so I don't get all of the hate on Hartley.

The majority of the blame should go to the O-Line, the WRs, namely Toon and some to the play-calling.

The defense isn't totally blameless for letting Ivory run all over them, but they did force a 3 & out late to give the offense a chance to win it.

voodooido 11-03-2013 06:44 PM

Re: Garrett Hartley

made a 55 and a 43. Ill take it. He is not the reason why we lost. The o-line and the lack of a running game. If the Saints want to go far into the playoffs they better find people that can block and feed PT the ball. Drew threw the ball 51 times.
