So how many more kicks does he have to miss before they cut him? This better not come to bite them in the *** tonight

Re: Garrett Hartley

He is terrible from inside 40 at home, but good on the road? This kid is a space cadet. Head Case. This is what happens when you depend on Frodo Baggins to kick your field goals.

He will cost the Saints a game sooner or later.

He cost us the game at Green Bay last year. He missed the kick with about a minute left that would have put us up. It was no chip shot but definitely reasonable...45 yards or so.

I still have to hear about how the Packers beat us because of him.

Winning by 14-21 Shankley.
Game on the line - Hartley.

Shankley sometimes causes the need for Hartley and that confuses the h3ll out of me.

Diagnosis - If its not a do-or-die kick he doesn't focus like he should.

Yep...it's like he's betting the point spread. Frodo has a gambling problem.

The most important range in the NFL is 30 to 49 yards.

Shankalicious is 10 of 16. That's DFL in the NFL, by a longshot.

paytons going to ride his ass out till he gets it. will he? uhm? what worry's should this cat have. he's got 1 of the best offenses in the nfl to kick for, all he has to do is live, love and laugh. come on man.

Re: Garrett Hartley

Ok, I'm done defending him. It is time to bring in someone new. I would much rather have a kicker that can kick 35 yards 100% of the time than one that kicks over 50 75% of the time.

Why? They are about the same. (sorry, been reading the QB facebook thread).

Dammit. I'm late to the party on the thread.

Hartley sucks! Boooooooo booooooooooo.

There. I feel much better :)

Seriously though. He does suck. Happy to get another kicker now. On the bright side, he missed one because of nerves rather than a stupid hook shot. His confidence is low because he keeps missing. I still think he sucks and I am not cutting him a break but I remain partly concerned at the damage it may cause bringing someone else in mid-season. Ugh. Undecided.

Hartley sucks.

Well bringing in Neil Rackers et al seemed to get his focus back as Hartley Did His Job yesterday...

Found myself taking Schnapps shot before that "mid-range" final kick - AND I'm not a drinker!

Competition is a good thing - may need the same on the offensive line...

I'm not sure he is the long time solution for us but the kid did good yesterday. And **** Harbaugh!

I was puckered up so tight during that kick…

To watch #5 attempt a game-winning kick from mid-range is just too much to ask of a fan.

Everyone had to be wondering if he could hit two-in-a-row like that and go 3-0 FG/FGA for the game ... I know it crossed my mind ... he made a believer outta' me,.

If you remember correctly he made the first kick but a holding penalty on Thomas made him re-kick.

Glad the game winner split the middle of the uprights and left no doubt from the minute it left his foot that he may have pushed it right..........no wait a minute.
Glad he made it though, he may have never recovered mentally otherwise.

Why? Because he finally made a FG? Destroy it when he's at about 83% accuracy. If ever.

Danno 11-18-2013 10:18 AM

Re: Garrett Hartley

He's still 3rd to last in FG accuracy in the NFL, and thats with only 1 attempt over 49 yards.

He's also still dead last from 30-49 yards.

I'll be the first to admit I have been a Hartley hater, and look, I'm glad he did his job yesterday. But he still looks like something isn't right with him. He just looks like he lacks confidence, or something. Just can't put my finger on it. I still think he's a friggen head case.

100% agree. When he lined up for the game tying field goal, I changed the channel. I just couldn't look. My wife had to tell me when it was over.

Plus, lets also remember there was a reason payton called those timeouts before the kick. He wanted to make sure there was plenty of time left in case hartley shanked that game tying kick.

Lastly, I love me some payton but he was full of it at the end of the game when asked about hartley and he saying their was a lot of white noise about his kicker. There was white noise about the kicker because he has been horribly inconsistent and you brought in a few kickers to try out last week.

To sum it up, I'll continue to be nervous every time he steps on the field for anything other than a PAT.

All kickers are friggin head cases! Just need to find the least damaged!

try to be a loyal fan, not a fair-weather disloyal person.

or, just move to atlanta and you'll fit right in there.

the players were behind their team mate the entire time.

why aren't some of you?

this reflects on your character. some of us will tell you that.

Ok, so the organization was sooo behind Hartley that they brought in replacement kickers last week? Stop it! I think we can all agree you don't do that unless A) Your kicker is hurt B) Your kicker is missing kicks. Now given the fact I haven't seen Hartley on any injury reports I'll assume the kickers were brought in for B.

You can be a loyal fan but that doesn't mean you should lose your objectivity. If a guy isn't doing his job it's ok to say that without being disloyal. Truth is Truth.
