We need a True No.1 receiver ...

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Graham plays multiple positions. TE, WR, Offensive lineman (even though he isn't the greatest blocker). At the end of the day he's one weapon of many. We have a talented receiving corps so I don't want to see early round ...

We have a talented receiving corps so I don't want to see early round picks there although I would love to see what Sean Payton and drew brees could do with a weapon like D'anthoni Thomas from oregon.

At the end of the day our Oline still needs a lot more help as well as linebacker and secondary on our defense.

Read the article that was posted a couple days ago, misfit toys or something like that.

The biggest reason for the Saints' success is they don't bow to conventional thinking when it comes to personnel. Who decided that you *have* to have a true #1 receiver?

In fact let's look at the teams right now that have a true #1:

Atlanta (Julio)
Detroit (CJ)
Bears (Marshall)
Cardinals (Fitz)
Texans (Andre)
Bengals (AJ)
Cowboys (bryant)
Giants (Cruz)
Bucs (VJax)

Are these offenses better than the Saints? I think you know the answer.

I misread Brees , I thought his arm was losing juice turns out nobody's open ! The last time someone was open was Meach over the top which Brees placed beautifully.

The heavy utilization of Sproles in the pass game is a telling sign that nobody is open as Sproles the check down.

I'm not saying we need to do anything crazy as I am in love with stills but one has to ponder what Brees could do with a Fitzgerald , megaton or Julio Jones.

I think it's time we gave Brees a real threat.

Marquise Lee is the highest decorated receiver since AJ green and Julio Jones ... We both know how those turned out.
The heavy utilization of sproles is due to a lack of a true run game. We dont need a true number one reciever. We have enogh weapins where they need to be and the luxury of the best TE in the league who is really just a WR. This has been our MO since Payton and Brees got here and its working just fine. No need to fix something that aint broke. If we signed a true number one we would have to lose one of our others in order to pay them.

We had one until he went Bernie Madoff on us.

I think we are fine just like we are. What did the Lions do without megatron this weekend? No offense SLoMo! Matchups are everything in this league. You don't think with the Bears having Kromer didn't pay extra attention to Colston as well. Colston is still a receiving threat he just isn't a speedster. That's why we hope Stills will develop.

Great comments from both sides. I still think we need someone who gets open quicker and easier. He doesn't have to be a true number one just fast and smart.
