It may be just a matter of time.
no i disagree the OL has degraded in the past few years to an average OL.

defensive game planning is simple.

stunt the center and you collapse the pocket. if the DT are big enough (IE carolina) he can be bull rushed. he wont give up many sacks but you will flush Drew out of the pocket and not let him step up. get your hands up to deflect some passes because you will be in his face.

LOT can be handled most of the time so the TE and RB will be chip blocking to help out. keep your head up because he will be flushed to you. LB 70% of the time the safety valve is coming out of the left side of the formation. easy pick up.

both guards are over whelmed trying to cover up this weakness so they too can be had during the game.

end of story.

I've said it 100 times in one form or another. We played a really really crappy game today. Not as bad as the Cleveland game 3 years ago, but pretty bad.

We gave it to the Jets with numerous unforced errors. I just don't see any way possible our offense plays that badly for the rest of the season.

I see 5-3 over the next 8 games at worst. Yeah, if we play as bad as we did today we won't win 3 games, but that's not gonna happen, especially with 4 home games left.

Are the Saints still zone blocking on the OLine because if they are it is not working. They should go back to gap blocking. Last season we had the same center and guards and they did fine. I think gap blocking would benefit Charles Brown also.
Boutte and Joker like this.

DAMN EXCELLENT POINT. We went zone thinking it would help our run game. We might need to revisit that decision.

Amen. Zone blocking would work better for Armstead and a more athletic RT... But it doesn't suit Brown and Strief. With that being said, Brown and DLP are free agents after this year so I wouldn't be surprised if we let them both go and move forward with Armstead and a center that we pick in the first round of the draft.

But the Saints need to fix the OLine now. This can't wait until next season. If this continues Drew is going to get seriously injured and there goes the season.

We have not played great all year long. We have played well enough to beat the teams we have beaten, who are all bad teams btw. We were lucky to win those and just as easily could have lost. None of our wins have been impressive with the exception of the Cardinals game.

Beware... You're gonna be called a fair weather fan for actually pointing out obvious flaws.

Brilliant Ill pass that to SP, sure it will make a huge difference

On a realistic note our defence still falls apart on away games on turf, and thats a problem we might not be able to fix before the seahawks in the playoffs.
