If we see it, Sean sees it.

They all are. Evans is not as good as when he had Nicks next to him. Same with Nicks. Next to each other they were all pros. Now they are just pro bowl players and I doubt even that for Evans this year. Our entire line is getting owned. We do miss Kromer a lot, and I said that as soon as he left.

The problem is that De La Puente was never really truly THE GUY, he just stepped into it when the "Olin Kreutz Experiment" went into the commode.

In the past, the Saints had extreeeeemely good luck with the Carl Nicks and the Jermon Bushrod "next man up" philosophy, but it has not translated to DLP, and bottom line it's never really been the same on the line since Goodwin left, not Nicks, not Bushrod. Even Jahri Evans actually came in off the bench to replace somebody, promoted up from 2nd string, and we struck gold with him, too. But you can't keep hitting the jackpot like that every single time. DLP is really just spare parts, and has been exposed as such. But there is a tendency with this team -- and I don't blame them, I'm just stating the facts -- there is a tendency to just sort of roll with whatever seems to be working, even if it's cobbled together, like it's part of Payton's OCD thing.

But I'm not gonna join in the "we suck" noise because we played a bad game. I'm not dumb enough to claim we aren't a playoff team as we sit here at 6-2 with Drew Brees as our QB, a top 10 offense and a top 10 defense.

I look around the league and all of the top teams in the NFC have issues. San Fran looks like the top dog right now but that can change in an instant.

Seattle? Green Bay? Both have issues and have looked bad at times this year.

I will in no way apologize for ridiculing Club Pity Party. They're a bunch of whiners and losers and I really don't care for that. Its just not my thing.

But this board takes all kinds and I guess misery loves company. I'm not asking anyone be banned, just expressing my opinion about what I consider fair weather fans who constantly harp on the negatives.

If they don't like it, there's a really easy to use ignore feature. I have a couple on there and am considering a couple more. They add nothing worthy to the discussion.

Thanks for responding, Danno. I wasn't asking you for an apology. The request was to see if you could look at some poster's critical analysis a different way. Calling them ( which includes me ) "Club Pity Party" is not quite the perspective I am suggesting. ;-)

Constructive criticism has a *point* ..... an objective. The objective that I see these posters ( I'll call them the Constructive Criticizers ), as having is: a) to satisfy their desire to support their team by analyzing team weaknesses and offering the product of that analysis in an online forum ( even if no one on the team will ever read it ) and b) engaging in a satisfying theoretical debate about a topic of mutual interest.

Or you could just use your ignore button. Whatever works. :-) Hope your day goes well, man.

I apologize (I know you aren't asking for one) if I grouped you into Club Pity Party by mistake.

You have to admit the "we suck" crowd got out of hand after the game and I ridiculed it appropriately. I did not mean to throw the objective critics into that group, but it was all happening so fast I really didn't care to differentiate between the two.

Objective criticism? - I'm all for it and if you search my posts you'll find I did my fair share of it.

Over the top criticism? - I enjoy ridiculing it. Its one of my Saints forum character flaws I guess.

This is going to be hard because while our D is improved, it is still not what you would call a good D, average at best but opportunistic. We are gonna need some help there as well. We simply dont have the money and time. By the time we get our Oline straightened out Drew will be done. Hell working behind this years line has probably shaved a year off his career already.
He needs to come off of some of that money and buy himself some protection or he wont be around long enough to collect all that contract money.
Our best shot for a second SB was 11 and we blew it. Window still has a crack, but not much.

How the hell did I end up on a Falcons board?

I will admit I saw one or two posts which surprised me, yes. But, I kinda wrote it off as "post-loss PTSD".

I get how years of that sort of whinging can get old. See: Whinger Australians: whingers and worriers

But, hey, to me, it is all part of the game -- and I am from NOLA so unexpected behavior is normal. Does that mean I have PTSD?

If we had been playing strong football and beating these inferior teams handily and the Jets manhandled us like they did yesterday I would not be concerned in the least and write this one off as a screw up. That is not the case. I am basing my opinions on what I have seen this season so far. Our line is getting WORSE when we need them to play better. Our run game is absolutely non existent, which is a direct result of line play. Brees is running for his life and if he remains healthy through the rest of the season, when we play even tougher defenses it will be a miracle. Our run defense is pretty damn horrible and we cannot for the life of us score in the red zone.
We have barely won games against crappy teams. Not one team we have beaten is above .500. We have beaten ****ty teams in nail biters.
We should have beaten every team we have played so far this season handily. And that was the easy part of our season. The Cards game and Bears game were encouraging but that is it. And you all would be lying if you say you werent holding your breath at the end of the Bears game.
I just don't see a Super Bowl contender in this team. I said 9-7 maybe 10-6 in preseason and I am sticking to it.

We got absolutely owned by a D that gave up 40 points to the friggin Bengals.

That was on the road where the bengals have kept Brady and Big Ben out of the endzone and held Rodgers to 1 TD. But what 5 other losses do you see? Kinda hard to lose two weeks after losing to the same team(panthers) and I don't think we are losing at the rams with their issues. They no longer have Jackson and their defense isnt what it used to be against the pass. I doubt we lose back to back in our dome in nationally televised games. We can't lose to Atlanta. So I don't see how we even fall to 10-6 unless we lose to TB in a home upset last game.

I don't see how you can call cardinals, bills, dolphins or bears "nail biters".
f*ck me, bears just took out Rodgers and Forte ran all over the Pack at Lambeau. They might win the NFC north and they are still with out their best player (Briggs).
Arizona is 4-4 in a division with the Seahawks and 49ers, Bears have a winning record and have Lance Briggs, Julius Peppers, Matt Forte, Martellus Bennett and Brandon Marshall on their team.
Dolphins are 4-4 and took out the Colts.
