Doesn't the fines go to charities? Not acceptable what he did but neither are missing OTAs, unwritten rule on a lower level. If my boss request I attend a function I do it. Don't, and there will be consequences either warranted or unwarranted.

Re: Incognito - Would you want him??

I honestly don't think Incognito is a racist and the use of the 'N' word is more of a similar situation to that of Riley Cooper. In both instances, the culture of the locker room was such that it was acceptable for those guys to use that kind of slur. It's unfortunate that neither one of them had the mental capacity to realize that it is never acceptable as a white person to throw that word around even if your black teammates are indifferent to it, or in the very least, be prepared to back it up if you choose to use that rhetoric. There is a video of Incognito acting out in a Ft. Lauderdale sports bar throwing the 'N' word around in the presence of his black teammates without any of them showing disapproval ... it's TMZ Sports, so I'm not posting a link, , but it does kind of prove my point.

This guy's a product of his environment and/or obviously steroids. There's a bunch of gangsta's in there (Pouncy was indicted in the Aaron Hernandez case) and Incognito got caught up in it, thinking he's cool and one of them ... which he's not. It's a shame one of his black teammates or coaches, who had to be aware of the verbiage this guy was comfortable using, didn't step up and correct him ... he does bench 600lbs though, so maybe everybody was afraid of him.

Anyhoo, he'll be found to be a dumbass, not a racist and being a dumbass isn't a crime. He'll be back in the NFL when all is said and done ... it may sound harsh, but personally, I'd go to war with the guy ... I probably wouldn't like it, but remember, the NFL is a business and the goal is to win games ... this guy will help you win games ... you ain't got to like the guy to play in the trenches next to him, you just got to do your job and trust him to do his. Bet.

His context isn't the same as Riley Cooper's. Not even by a long shot. I never cared if a white team mate used the word around me, but if he respected me or blacks in general at all then he wouldn't even use it regardless.

Also, the "usage in rap" argument is so stupid. Eminem, Yelawolf, Macklemore, Machine Gun Kelly, none of them use it, and they'd be far more accepted in the black community then Incognito. Hell, they already are. That, and the whole culture of the locker room talk is bs. Now like I said, what he said doesn't bother me. I became immune to it years ago. But this faulty ass logic created by people who aren't even black is ridiculous.

Doesn't matter, that word is viewed as inflammatory in any context ... at least by my generation. My personal observations are that it no longer carries the same stigma for generations born in the 80's/90's.

"I never cared if a white team mate used the word around me, but if he respected me or blacks in general at all then he wouldn't even use it regardless ...

Exactly the point I was making.

Never even mentioned the "rap" argument, and other than Eminem, couldn't even name a song those other artists recorded.

This is the part of the reply I find ridiculous, that and the fact Jonathon Martin sits on a racial slur/death threat/extortion attempt for 6/7 months. For some reason, he didn't take it serious enough at the time to do something about it ... possibly because that was normal behavior for the Miami Dolphin locker room and condoned by his teammates whether they be black or white?. I've seen it before and it's a stupid situation where Incognito didn't demonstrate the character (as we both agree) to not take advantage of the locker room environment by not using that slur and was, in all probability, enabled by the fact no one, black/white/coach/player checked his dumb ass when he often did ... but I digress.

Now I know you like to yank chains a bit, so I'm not gonna' take it personal, but your last point implying a person's observation/argument/logic can't possibly be anything but faulty based on the color of their skin is insulting and ridiculous ... but I understand your logic, it's the same logic that's made the City of Detroit, the city I live and grew up in, what it is today ... one may wrongfully feel I am defending Incognito, I am not ... I'm just not gonna' throw him totally under the bus until everything comes out. I've done it before, would do it for anyone & I'll do it again, .
There's common ground, Rez.

Commit a Federal crime, costs taxpayers millions and you get a call from the President when done playing football in prison.Racial slurs and verbal attacks with little factual truth and extent of it and your career is over for the season, maybe longer.

Good grief, Charlie Brown. Between Miami's "stuff", Jacksonville being who they are, and Tampa's head coach plus ownership, I believe we have a true Triangle of S--t in the state of Florida right now.
