The key to the game, imo, will be which team can run the ball effectively against the other.

Both teams have excellent passing QBs and multiple weapons in the passing game.

Seattle relies on their run game to set up their relatively-speaking seldom-used passing game. Thus far this year, Seattle runs the ball 55.6% of the time.

By comparison, the Saints run the ball only 38.7% of the time... and passes the ball 61.3% of the time. That's a lot.

Another key to the game will be whether Seattle's linebackers can quickly close on the ball when the Saints are in the short passing game attack mode. Wright, Wagner and Irvin are all fast and have been very effective in closing down on opponents' receivers in the short passing game, particularly at home.

Should be a fantastic game to watch. I'm stoked!!

I should add that when Drew does go down-field, Seattle has likely the fastest-closing FS in the league in Earl Thomas to be aware of.

Forcing them to beat us through the air would be weather dependant IMO, if the weather is rainy and windy I can see that happening. The difference here is Wilson can actually make throws when compared to a shaky confidence lacking Kap in our house.

Like the Joe Montana led Niners, we use the pass as a run play. It has the very same efficacy or better sometimes. But we have more than one back from which to choose. Lynch is good, but I doubt he replicates his production from the last time these teams faced each other.

I agree. The key will be whether Seattle LBs can close quickly and stifle that tactic. We'll see.


You know, if you subtract out the 67-yard Beast Quake run, the Saints limited Lynch to just 64 yards on 18 carries for a 3.6 yd/attempt average, which is pretty damn good run D.

With the BQ run included, his numbers were 19 carries for 131 yards.

My prediction is Lynch gets somewhere around 85-90 yards total on Monday night... and RW likely gets ~30 himself in scrambles.

We'll see. That what 49ers fans thought, to0, and they only managed a total of 81 yards rushing for the game.

I think our biggest problem is special teams, if its not missed FGs its muffed punts. Clean it up and we wont struggle as much to win games

Seattle has to set the pass up with run. like its been pointed out we do the opposite for the most part

stop Lynch well limit him, no one stops him and you have a great chance at winning the game.

and thats assuming we have any kind of playoff seed. First we have to beat Seattle
and Carolina twice. Then, I'll put on my Division crown.

Im seeing an inordinate amount of cockiness on the board lately, which I think
is really whistling in the graveyard. This is America, so guys, feel free to talk chit, and then have to eat it tuesday morning, (or dec 9 or dec 23) in the event our crowns are premature. I wont stop you.

But I see a very tough series of tests for us, with possibly the best team in the League next week. Not only do I like to be realistic, but if we do happen to light up the rest of this schedule, I think we should truly appreciate the magnitude of this team's accomplishment. Think of the night we beat the Patriots 40 something to 17, and kept our streak. You didnt KNOW we could
really be them. It was amazing when we did, and the uncertainty made it much better.

I like being loud and proud, and raising hell in the Dome. But humility serves us well also.
