Press coverage is our kryptonite. Duh. You just relax though, Pete's PED's will draw attention soon enough... |
Re: Press Man Coverage our Kryptonite
I'm with the majority here we need road graders up front. Would give Brees the time he needs and a consistant run game to keep opposing D's honest!! No center needs to go back every time, a few maybe, constantly no. And Strief and Grubbs need to man-up, their not looking so hot. We don't need to get into a slump.

Re: Press Man Coverage our Kryptonite
Yeah I gotta say, after many years of saying we had too many receivers to think about offense in the draft, I'm starting to think it's time to reload that position. Or at least reshuffle it.
We might already have the pieces in place, though Toon hasn't shown me anything in a meaningful situation, and Stills is up and down. Morgan can't seem to stay healthy. But if all these guys can show some consistency and stay healthy, then they need to be bumped up on the depth chart. Colston is making too much money to just dump him, unfortunately, but I think the coaching staff is really doing the team an injustice by continuing to put him out there as the WR1, when he clearly can't get any separation against average or better corners, anymore. Colston has given us a lot and he deserves his due, but we need a legitimate threat out wide, and he just isn't it. Moore has been plain non-existent this year. Our receivers are very one dimensional. They are either possession guys or speed guys. The only one I see who has the potential to be an all around good receiver is Stills. |
Re: Press Man Coverage our Kryptonite
With that said above, It's hard to decide between receiver help or O-line help as being more pressing. There is at least some talent at receiver, whereas the line is a patch work job with a couple exceptions. I would say, just take the best available option between the two. Don't settle on another charles brown type, just because it's a lineman.

A great ground game would keep it all honest. Where's Khiry?

Re: Press Man Coverage our Kryptonite
This is the first year since 05 I have had far more concerns about our Offense over our Defense.
We can't run the ball to save our lives and for some reason none of our WRs can beat man coverage. Our defense is light-years ahead of where they were last year but our offense is worse... Payton coming back hasn't been that big, having Rob Ryan here made us the contenders we are right now. |
