Re: 2014 NFL Draft

I still like**Jared Abbredaris 6-2,188lb,4.41 speed. Walter football reports have him as possible the best route runner in the draft and that only patchy QB play held him back.
78 receptions for 1087 yards and 7tds on a run heavy team with a poor QB. Should be a 3/4th roundee

thats the key for this team. route running skills.

my short list on WR that fit the saints style.

Jarvis Landry WR LSU
Jared Abbredaris WR Wisconsin

After that there are a few others but those two i feel can walk in and push for playing time day one and make a few starters very nervous

I really like Draft Tek and I think they're right on with us picking Dee Ford in the first round. Unless he does something to hurt his draft stock I'm completely on board with getting him if he's available. Here's what Draft Tek currently projects for our draft:

Rd. 1) Dee Ford- OLB (Auburn)

Rd. 2) Anthony Steen- G (Alabama)

Rd. 3) Kareem Martin- DE (N. Carolina)

Rd. 4) Bryan Stork- C (Florida St.)

Rd. 5) Justin Ellis- DT (Louisiana Tech)

Rd. 6) Kadeem Edwards- G (Tennessee State)

Ford or Ealy.. I'm for it. I see us possibly trading back to get another pick to make up for the 7th.

On both need and bpa, I don't see this list as they had at least six players that present higher value and need for the Saints than Ford...

He's been amazing, but I think we already have that player on the roster, and affordable, in Galette...

Two Guards?!?

Re: 2014 NFL Draft

we have a ton of small fast OLB already that play three downs. we need beef for the run downs. keep the rush guys fresh.

in the games that count the most, the elite match ups, you need bull rushers that can anchor the ends. watch the last TD run in Seattle. you will see what i mean.

if we go that rout i am looking at trent murphy types

Rewatched the last Seattle matchup...

Our defense did a helluva job on Lynch (loved de stuck it to the PFWA) with tackling breakdowns by Inside LBs (Lofton, Hawthorne) and the Safeties (Jenkins, Harper) doing the Beastmode damage...

Now, Good News is our defensive line is only facing FA loss in Tom Johnson, injured for some of the season; really like our line now of Jordan/Walker, Bunkley/Jenkins, Hicks/Foster...

But Cam Jordan's new contract is looming in 2015...

Only FA 34 defensive end I'd add would be Tyson Jackson, but...

Free Agency will be limited because of cap room (Graham should be tagged, non-exclusive), so...

Agree that we still have great need for LB - we've started the transition to the 34 so we need to get some 6-2 to 6-4 linebackers in the 230lb-255lb range and who can hit with authoriti'...

I'm not sold Lofton nor Hawthorne are natural fits for the 34 defense; but their contract situations make it prohibitive to release them this season for cap space...*

Expiring contracts on Herring and Humber (who were great in their roles) have created need to draft at least two linebackers who are flexible and can be developed for starting play by 2015...

Kevin Reddick will have a huge opportunity this offseason...

Junior Galette is a big OLB (former DE), under contract and has played solidly in the pass...

Parys Haralson is now a free agent, now 30+, and a torn pectoral muscle...

Victor Butler is rehabbing a serious knee injury (which seems to be going well by his effort to attempt to play in late season), but there's that uncertainty...

A first round pick does seems plausible, but that investment requires that player to start and have an impact with likely candidates in Kyle Van Noy, Trent Murphy, Ryan Shazier and Dee Ford...

Georgia Tech's Jeremiah Attaochu, out of position as DE in 43 this year had great success at OLB in 34 in previous seasons; noted by coaches at Senior Bowl for playing multiple LB positions, his work ethic and progression during week and could be had for a late second round pick investment...

We've got a good start rebuilding the backstop with Vaccaro and Bush, though we're gonna need depth there...

Vaccaro has proved to be a brilliant draft pick; guy reminds me of a velociraptor...

Bush outplayed Jenkins (again), but could clean up some parts of his game (coverage) - but he hits with passion which this defense needs...

Harper's contract and debatable play makes him an afterthought...

Late in the season, we learned an old lesson at a different position - you can never have too many cornerbacks...

It's early mocking, players all over the place, but if Justin Gilbert falls to the early 20's pick range, that close, we should make that move as he'd be the only cornerback I'd draft in the first round...

Corey White was inconsistent which experience should remedy ball location (not so sure Samford alum shouldn't be playing safety) but he'll be fine as a big physical second or nickel back...

Georgia Tech's Jeremiah Attaochu who played out of position as a DE in a 43 this past year had more success in the 34 at OLB in previous seasons; of note, he played multiple LB positions at the Senior Bowl and was noted for his work ethic and progression each day and could be had for a late second round pick...

Trent Murphy appears to be the best option at shutting down an edge but man he is not the fastest cat around. DE/OLB seem to be a year of "up side"
Kyle Van Noy is looking to be hands down the best LB for pass coverage in the draft.
Jeremiah Attaochu i see another pass rush specialist here.

as for the rest of the story. i agree

see i am a buzz kill i stick with you can never have enough players at any given position when drafting.
