this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Latest rumor is that Ron Zook has been fired by Florida effective at the end of the season.........I say we get rid of Venturi and bring in Zook. Our defense hasn't been nearly as good since he departed us......

We don\'t need to bring him back... the guy couldn\'t even win in college, how do you think he\'ll do in the pros.

If you remember correctly he was great in the Pros. How do you think he got the Florida job? He had our D playing a hell of a ot better than Venturi is doing... Would you rather stick with Venturi?
Zook has had some rough games at Florida, but I think its cause he is a nice guy. I mean he never had the killer instinct. When he gets up in games he sits on the ball and tries to run the clock out instead of running up the score. In college you have to run up the score. Then he was trying to run a more Pro style team and the players just arent taking a liking to it. They make a ton of mistakes and dont respond well to tough love. I think he is a good coach, but I wouldnt ask him back as a head coach. Maybe a D Coordinator. Anything is better than Venturi... |

Hell, if anything, suit him up at DT, it\'ll prolly be better then than fatty mcgee and young. Seriously tho, he\'s a good pick for D cord.

Losing to Miss. State was the final straw at Florida for Zook, but I still think he would make a better Def. Coordinator than what we have now.

No thanks, we need a totally revamped staff, no repeat offenders here.

Yeah I think it would be a good idea to bring Zook back. In 2000 the defense under Zook had 64 sacks. The saints in 2000 almost broke the record bye the 85 bears of 72 sacks in a season. I posted the lets see if we can get Zook back last week. I than followed the statement bye saying probably impossible before learning he would be fired. It is always the head coaches decision who he decides to put on his staff. Lets see who the new head coach is next year. If there is a change. Haslett might stay and fire all the other coaches.

There\'s some major memory loss on this board. Our defense ROCKED when Zook was running things. It has sucked since he left.
You KNOW Spurrier wants back in Florida...Zook has my vote for Venturi\'s job. |
