You're entitled to your opinion, but I just think a refs **** up being the only reason Peyton didn't get the record kind of sucks.

Even then, I've only seen one angle where it did look like an obvious forward pass, maybe the reviewers had a much better angle, I'm not sure. Someone previously stated at another angle it was a forward pass, so I'd also like to see that angle if anyone has a link.

Peyton Manning should have NFL single-season passing record taken away | The MMQB with Peter King

I meant "I've only seen one angle where it wasn't a forward pass" fixing now.

I suspect that you and I are polar opposites on more than just passing records. You are emotionally invested in a record that is not subjective, this is not an opinion based subject. It is based purely on empirical data.

He either threw legal passes for more yards or he didn't. Absolutely nothing else matters. If it is ruled that the pass was not a legal pass then he didn't and the opinions of you and I are moot.

Now there is a subjective aspect to this and Payton Manning coming out if the game with just one yard above Drew's record tells me two things.

1. He is an idiot. He let the referees decide.

2. He agrees that no one knows what would have happened on the next play. Manning him self chose not to take the risk of one more pass.

Records are risk/reward. You don't break them and hold them playing safe football.

The only thing that gets me about it all is where are all the whiners complaining about how Manning padded his stats? Thats all we heard when Drew broke the record. Its fine when their boy does it but no Saint's player should have a gaudy record like that so we, the media and other fans, have to diminish it.

It may be hard to accuse him of padding his stats when he sat out the second half of the game. If he had padded his stats some, this lateral wouldn't be an issue.
