this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I say draft a starter in the 1st a guy we can plug in week 1 and let him learn. if there are no guys that fit that bill without reaching then trade back and acquire more picks i'll take ...

I say draft a starter in the 1st a guy we can plug in week 1 and let him learn. if there are no guys that fit that bill without reaching then trade back and acquire more picks i'll take the mid round studs any day of the week over a 1st round guy, 2nd-7 yields more super stars anyway, lower cap numbers help keep us competitive in free agency

Agree with the trade down qualified with your IF, but its a bit misleading to say more superstars are drafted between rounds 2 thru 7. You're comparing over 200 picks to just 32.
I read a study last year that showed 1st rounders have way more success than 2nd rounders, which have more success than 3rd rounders, and so on and so on. |
