that clearly was a legal hit; I was telling my friends the blow was not to his head. The argument is and always will be defining a defenseless player

I cant begin to count the times that Colston has been hit just like that with no flag.

I just wonder if the Seahags fans will take back their vitriol now that the fine has been rescinded.

![]() My take is that under the current rules the hit was illegal, yet it did not warrant a fine because the hit could not be avoided. Bush clearly made contact with Harvin's head. Under the current rules that is a penalty regardless of the circumstances. When Bush began his body drive to make the tackle it was directed at Harvin's chest where the ball would have been in his hands. When Harvin bobbled the ball he dropped down and Bush's left shoulder and helmet caught him flush in the head. Under today's rules the call on the field was right. However, the fine was not justified because the illegal hit was unavoidable. The rule itself is the problem. It puts a defensive player in the situation of attempting to make a legal hit only to be punished by the repositioning of the offensive player. As a result, I am pissed off as a Saints fan and can fully understand the Seahawk fan's vitriol as well. |
