I am in daily contact with Seahawks fans and have discussed this play in depth.

My take is that under the current rules the hit was illegal, yet it did not warrant a fine because the hit could not be avoided. Bush clearly made contact with Harvin's head. Under the current rules that is a penalty regardless of the circumstances. When Bush began his body drive to make the tackle it was directed at Harvin's chest where the ball would have been in his hands. When Harvin bobbled the ball he dropped down and Bush's left shoulder and helmet caught him flush in the head.

Under today's rules the call on the field was right. However, the fine was not justified because the illegal hit was unavoidable.

The rule itself is the problem. It puts a defensive player in the situation of attempting to make a legal hit only to be punished by the repositioning of the offensive player.

As a result, I am pissed off as a Saints fan and can fully understand the Seahawk fan's vitriol as well.

that hit set the tone the saints came to play sea clucks hard. Now to me refs gave game to sea cpecks. The hit was ok the refs were onesided all game.saints secondary be as good if allowed to cheat like sea ducks all year.now if refs call rules same both sides keep in mind when lance Moore came back with just a small part of the BULLSSSSSt sea cluks did the flag almost break the speed of sound flying out of refs hands.
