There are soooo many ways to love this pick.

Missing Sproles? Problem solved.

Missing Meachem/Henderson speed, worried that our speedy Joe Morgan can't stay healthy? Problem solved

Have a need for speed? How about this, Cooks/Morgan/Stills all 4.3ish guys on the field at once.... Think about it.

Durability? Done

Big play ability? Got it

Seattle containing our receivers? Solved, he possesses elite start/stop ability.

Need a punt returner? Done

If you got a problem, yo he'll solve it.

Cooks Cooks baby
Good post...and then you went and vannila-iced it. This made me angry...

The real beauty of this is you split out Stills and Cooks on either side of the field. Send them on deep routes either of them with no help deep you take the shot.

If safeties do drop to cover help cover the deep routes it frees up Colston and Graham underneath or even PT out of the backfield.

Definitely going to help our short passing game as well as our running game... dare someone to cheat up safeties to much...

I'm just thinking about putting Colston, Stills, Graham, and Cooks on the field at the same time. Oh, and don't forget we have an elite QB throwing them the ball.
Lol, game over for the defense.

Yeah, there's no way to match up against all that at once. SP probably will want to adjust the offense to use more 3 WR sets. In theory either Colston or Graham will be matched up against a linebacker on almost every play.

He's gonna be the WR version of what we thought Bush would be.

He's Harvin/Jackson/Austin all rolled into one.

He's also just an inch shorter than everybody's favorite WR OBJ.

He's scrappy, great hands, great character, tough as a $2.00 steak, can start/stop on a dime, returns kicks and punts, great balance, and oh yeah, he's the freakin 2nd fastest player in the entire draft at a 4.31 40.

Meh. Hope you all are right. Doesn't do much good if you can't stop the other team from scoring though. I'm a little tired of these shoot outs.

We have the 4th rank overall defense on last year and the 4th rank offense but when the chips were down it was the offense that went missing

What shoot-outs? We didn't have any shootouts last year. Maybe the Pats game, but thats the only one I can think of.

And we were 4th best in the NFL in points allowed.

Were you talking about some other team?

So being considered a dynamite WR is more reliable than being considered a dynamite RB?

Those who are in love with this pick are missing the point by those of us who aren't. It's not that he's a bad player, or that he won't fit in. But it doesn't seem, to me at least, that we needed to trade up in order to get him. But people say "oh he's so fast, he's gonna be the new sproles". Cooks is not a running back, therefore when he's on the field there won't be any mystery as to what he's out there for. Other than the occasional reverse play.

All the can't miss talk means nothing to me. I've heard it before. I do think he'll be a good player, for what it's worth, but this is way too much hype for me.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Its the day after, of course everyone is excited and we're simply stating what he could be.

Would you rather we, after every pick state "stats show he's likely gonna be a bust, so I just can't get excited"?

Its freaking NFL Christmas, quit pissin on my new toy!
