Vilma still thought he could play as well...

Brees' experience and knowledge is as good as anyone on the league...

But we're seeing more and more underthrown long balls to the receivers the past three seasons...

And those nifty feet in the pocket are getting a bit slower - though Grubbs has been an oversign, overpay and been no where near as effective as Nicks was - and there've been a few missed opportunities where Brees could've pulled the ball down and ran for the first that also lean towards this trend...

Not sure yet if Payton's move of Griffin to the active squad as a counter to the Rams' practice squad waiver claim last season was a counter to inflating his value or if he feels this is his "next" guy - if Griffin beats out the other McCown, it could be telling...

But Brees turns 36 this season - Saints should still be playing mid-January according to Archie's roster assessment - and I don't see extending that contract when the current one is not even finished...

And so there's the reality of age that is there whether we want to face it or neaux...
ChrisXVI and K Major like this.

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Q, you hit it on the head - always the most overlooked but most important part of the team is the offensive line/blocking facet of the game...

Man JP, I don't think any Saints fan's overlooking our OL right now.

Part of that also is that the other team components are so much better since the '09 season; the defensive line, defensive secondary, wide receiver/tight end corps look to be something special...

Brees' cap hits the next two seasons ($26.4M & $27.4M) only give the Saints two choices ... They either cut him or extend him with a restructure, much like what the Patriots did with Brady. There is no way the Saints are going to cut Brees prior to the 2015 season. Brees is still one of the very few elite QB's in the game and there is no reason given how he takes care of himself that he couldn't remain one of the best QB's in the game and far better than any other option.

Almost forgot about him. I expect big things from him this year.

Father time catches everyone. I don't see several more years with him taking shots like he has, conditioning or not. If it would ever come to a point like (Kenny Stabler) trying to milk out his career then I would be all for change, as long as Brees continues to play at a high level, then everything is good, or if he were in a position like John Elway winning 2 and riding off in the sunset, I would much rather Brees go out on top than fade away. 40 or so I would have to think no.

Yes but the heat should be on every player that suits up, if any starter would get beat out and so-be-it ,thats the only way to improve at each position. I never have liked the thought of being penciled in that only makes things weak.
