The Saints were 12-3 one year 92 I think. Unfortunately Moras teams folded in the playoffs. Why didn't Moras teams beat Dallas San Fransisco or Philadelphia in pre salary cap days? Duh? That'd have been like the As winning the World Series. The 49ers had Montana Rice Craig Rathman Taylor Lott Sanders. The Saints had Hilliard Martin Hebert Hill Brenner and of course the Done Patrol. But compared to the 49ers Hall of Fame riddled roster. And don't get me started on the Cowboys in the 90s with Aikman Smith Irving and the best O-line in history.

I always thought Mora's Saints were kryptonite to Johson's Cowboys and we never got them on the schedule then except early on when the Saints baptized Johnson 28-0 in a season opener...

Thought Johnson's Cowboys had more of a beneficial schedule and breaks than they were that good of a team...

Neither Mora did much in the playoffs as coaches.

First year in the playoffs summed up Mora's tenure...

Regular Season, beat the snot out of teams but was still one game behind Bill Walsh and his 49ers...

Playoff game against Minny, got embarrassed when Mora wouldn't adjust when Vikes pulled a Rocky and came out south paw...

(Note: Teams I really hate losing to are Atlanta, San Fran, Minnesota, Washington, now Seattle)...

Saints were that Great Team that always sat home for the tournament...

Watch NFL films Greatest Linebacker Corps and Walsh and Steve Young can't understand how that team never won a Superbowl...

We know why...

And Atlanta is going through it now...

Re: Why didn't the Saints have more success during the Mora years?

He said it was Coach Mora who would audit/thin the playbook because Mora didn't trust his staff or players...

this i can believe. Mora was an ego maniac

but i did follow smith after. he turned up in new england early on and worked with Drew Bledsoe as a QB coach. Drew Bledsoe speaks highly of him. I just moved to Boston for the first time back then. I had nothing good to say about Smith. but by the time i moved i saw him in a different light. Drew game did improve a great deal

Since that time he has done a solid job as a QB coach around the League.

he had another stint in Jacksonville as OC and that was short lived. Now with the Seahawks as a QB coach again

That seems to be what he is best at.

so like is said Mora shoulders the blame. but to pick offensive coaches over defensive coaches on that team was stupid.

so i guess Smith first real shot at OC came because Mora could use him as a door mat.

Playing in the same division with the 49ers. That was probably 70 percent of the problem.

We were cursed. We needed the biblical 40 years of repent and then a great flood to remove it.

Poydras has spoken!

Actually, didn't the Steelers go through the same thing before their dynasty in the 70's?!?
